Chapter 38 A Crash and an Unwelcome Reunion

Ellis was just about to speak when the car suddenly jolted as if it had lost control. A strong force slammed her forward, followed by a deafening crash.

For a moment, everything blurred. Stars danced in her vision, and her head spun.

Maya had slammed on the brakes. She had been bracing for it, so she wasn’t as disoriented as Ellis–but not by much.

As her senses returned, Ellis realized they had crashed into another car.

The front of both vehicles was dented, paint scraped off, looking like a complete mess.

Maya got a good look at the car they had hit and instantly paled.

“Sh’t

Since Ellis hadn’t been the one driving, she hadn’t been paying attention to the road and wasn’t sure who was at fault. But seeing Maya’s reaction, she immediately said, “Call the police and let them determine liability. Also, call your insurance!”

Maya wasn’t clueless about handling an accident. The problem was who they had hit.

Her face turned ashen. “Hey! That’s a Ferrari”

“Yeah,” Ellis said, not immediately grasping the problem.

“That’s all you have to say?” Maya groaned in despair. “That thing is worth millions! My car is barely worth a fraction of that. A regular person like me crashing into a luxury car? This is a disaster!”

Ellis finally understood.

She was about to comfort Maya when the Ferrari’s driver got outa young man radiating hostility. He stomped over, swearing under his breath, and banged aggressively on their car window.

*Are you blind or just stupid? You actually had the guts to crash into me? Get out here, now!”

The guy looked downright violent.

Neither Ellis nor Maya was dumb enough to step out in a situation like this. Staying inside the car was the safest option.

Seeing them remain seated, the young man’s face twisted with rage, turning him into something out of a nightmare.

Maya quickly called the police while Ellis checked that the car doors were locked.

If that man managed to yank the door open, things would get bad.

While they were handling that, another person stepped out of the Ferrari.

With the car damaged, Bree was debating whether to have her family driver pick her up or let Jerry handle the situation before taking her home.

As she walked over to Jerry’s side, she noticed someone in the other car who looked familiar.

Then it hit her. It was Ellis.

The memory of Ellis slapping her last time resurfaced instantly. Anger surged through her, and she pointed straight at Ellis. “Jerry, don’t let them off the hook!”

That Ferrari was a limited edition that had taken Jerry ages to get his hands on. He had barely owned it for a few days, and now it was wrecked and in need of repairs. His heart was bleeding

Ellis and Maya exchanged a look

With their protective barrier gone, Maya–who was sitting in the driver’s seat–was now face–to–face with Jerry.
