Chapter 414 Two Annoyances and a Red Flag

Suddenly, a thought crossed her mind.

The damage left behind by the wrong man–after nearly a year of healing–had mostly faded. Maybe it was time she started dating again.

But the second Easton’s face popped into her head, the thought vanished.

She couldn’t even get rid of her ex. Anyone who tried to date her now was basically walking into a disaster. She’d have to deal with Easton first. Then, maybe, she could think about love.

That was a puzzle with no answer.

Easton didn’t listen to reason. He didn’t care what she said. He only wanted one thing–to get back together. She’d rejected him a hundred times, and he still showed up like clockwork

Ellis sighed hearily.

The doctor, who had been focused on removing the last of the glass shards from her knee, mistook her sigh for pain and said gently, “Almost done. Hang in there.”

She opened her eyes but didn’t say anything. Instead, she just watched his hands.

She hadn’t made an appointment–just walked into the hospital and got the last available slot. All that was left were junior residents.

The guy in front of her couldn’t have been working here more than a few years. Judging by his hesitant movements, he wasn’t all that experienced. At one point, as he fumbled with her wound, his ears turned noticeably red.

Ellis figured he must be embarrassed about his clumsy technique.

The pain was annoying, but not unbearable. She forced herself to stop thinking about it.

A few minutes later, he was done. He sprayed the area with antiseptic, slapped on a bandage, and said, “That’s it. Try to keep it dry over the next few days.”

She nodded, listening carefully to his instructions.

But as he finished, she noticed him hesitating, eyes darting around like he wanted to say something but didn’t know how.

She stared at him, slightly on edge. She was here for a simple injury, and the look on his face wasn’t helping.

“Is there something else?” she asked directly.

He paused, then shook his head. “No, you’re all set. Just go pay at the front.”

She walked out, still a little confused, and headed to the payment counter. What was that about!

What she didn’t know was that while she was paying, the doctor was typing her phone number into his phone–straight from her patient file.

Back home. Ellis pulled out her phone and saw a friend request from an unknown number on WeChat.
