Chapter 438 Someone Had Drugged
Finished
Jimmy was a professional manager. At the company he had just taken over, if he didn’t produce solid results soon–especially since he hadn’t performed well at his previous jobs–his reputation would be completely destroyed. He was in desperate need of Mike’s help.
Noticing that Mike was still staring at Ellis, Jimmy suddenly came up with a clever way to get Mike to agree to work with him.
Ellis, completely unaware of any of this, thought that once she left the hallway, everything would be fine.
At that moment, she wanted nothing more than to return to Maxwell’s side.
Unfortunately. Maxwell was mingling with ease and charm, smoothly navigating the crowd. It would be tactless to interrupt him, so Ellis stayed on her own. She helped herself to some drinks and small bites to fill her stomach.
She hadn’t had dinner, and the form–fitting dress she wore didn’t allow her to eat much. She stopped eating once she was about half full.
Noticing that Maxwell was constantly surrounded by people and that she had nothing else to do, she decided to take a walk through the hotel’s garden on the first floor. It would help with digestion and pass the time.
In the elevator, she realized the hotel’s air conditioning had somehow gotten warmer. Her body felt flushed and uncomfortably warm.
She muttered under her breath, “Seriously? A five–star hotel can’t maintain its central air? The temperature’s all over the place.”
She hadn’t been in the garden for more than a few minutes when her body temperature spiked. The heat came with a strange, consuming sense of emptiness.
That emptiness screamed at her–it needed a man to fill it.
It immediately reminded her of how her adoptive mother had once drugged both her and Easton, hoping the two would reconcile. The plan was for Ellis to get pregnant, have Easton’s child, and deliver an heir for the Hudson family.
The feeling was too familiar. So familiar that she couldn’t help but suspect someone had drugged her again.
She quickly recalled the food she had eaten and the people she had interacted with that evening. Her mind zeroed in on the most likely culprit.
It hadn’t been long since he had approached her with sleazy and disgusting intentions.
Ellis didn’t have the strength to curse him out. She needed to find him and make him
pay.
But right now, what mattered most was getting the drug out of her system. She had to get to a hospital.
The drug’s effects were overwhelming. The heat and emptiness were joined by a wave of intense dizziness. The world spun around her, and she could barely stay on her feet.
She stumbled. Just as she was about to collapse, a pair of hands caught her.
“Miss, are you alright?”
It was a young hotel staff member, sweet–looking and gentle. She caught Ellis just in time and looked at her with concern.
Ellis forced a shaky smile, pushing through the discomfort. “Please… call 911.
The staff member hesitated. “911? Are you feeling unwell? I can take you
you back to your room and have our hotel doctor check
on you.”

This one was vicious.
“If that’s what you need, I’ll…
Before the staff could finish, a man’s impatient voice interrupted There’s no camera here. Who are you putting on this act for? Hurry up and take her to Room 608. The guest is waiting.”
Ellis had just begun to feel a flicker of hope, thinking someone was genuinely helping her.
Then those words hit her like ice water. Her heart dropped.
This was a trap. The hotel staff wasn’t here to help.
Urged on by her accomplice, the young woman dropped her kind act. Her expression turned cold as she took control of Ellis‘ limbs and dragged her toward the elevator.
Ellis‘ body no longer obeyed her. The dizziness was too strong. She was terrified that if she passed out, she would be completely helpless. In a desperate move, she bit her own tongue hard, using the pain to stay conscious
The staff, confident in her victory, didn’t seem worried about resistance. She stared at Ellis beautiful face, puzzled why her eyes were still open.
The pain gave Ellis a moment of clarity. She forced her limbs to move and shoved the woman away
