As soon as Ellis saw it, she knew it was her phone. The moment it landed in her hand, she immediately asked him to leave. “You can leave now,”
Easton acted as if he hadn’t heard her at all. Then, to Ellis‘ surprise, Maya walked out.
Confused, she said, “I wasn’t talking to you.”
Maya glanced between her best friend and Easton. “I feel like a third wheel. I’ll leave first.”
Ellis frowned. “What are you talking about?”
She and Easton were exes, not a couple. How would Maya being here make her feel like a third wheel?
“I’m afraid I’ll hear something I’m not supposed to Maya joked, half–seriously.
Ellis remembered the things she and Easton had just said, and she rubbed her forehead helplessly. Then just go.”
She cared about her image, and the argument with Easton had brought up private things. It really wasn’t great for a third person to overhear.
“See you!” Maya waved.
As she watched Maya leave, Ellis forced out a smile. Now that Maya was gone, standing alone in front of Easton, she could no longer keep up the smile. She figured not giving him the cold shoulder was already her being polite.
“I can stand just fine. Stop bothering me. She pointed at the door Maya had intentionally closed. You can go too
“You really don’t need to go to the hospital for a check–up? After last night, Easton realized his self–control had worsened Just seeing Ellis made him want to pull her into his arms and relive the magic of last night. He didn’t want to be alone again.
If he could convince her to go to the hospital, he’d have time to think about how to use this opportunity to smoothly move into her place. After all, she seemned calmer now compared to when she’d just woken up. She didn’t look like she was about to explode anymore. Didn’t that mean her hatred and resistance toward him had lessened?
Ellis replied sharply. “I already told you. I don’t need to go.”
She
wasn’t sure whether the pill
left any side effects on her body. But she did know that Easton’s complete lack of restraint had left her exhausted, and that emergency contraceptives came with their own list of unpleasant side effects.
If Easton stayed here any longer, she wasn’t sure she could stop herself from slapping him again.
“I’ll call a doctor to come check on you?” Easton tried to reach out and brush the sleeve of her shirt
But as soon as he touched her, her expression turned fierce. The next second, she gave him a slap on the back of his hand.
“Don’t push your luck. Just because I slept with you last night doesn’t mean you get to do whatever you want and take advantage of me!” After years of sharing a bed, Ellis could read Easton like a book. She knew that move just now was him testing the waters.
“I wasn’t taking advantage of you,” Easton replied as he withdrew his hand.
You weren’t? Then why did I slap you?” Ellis glared at the hand that had touched her sleeve. “If you try anything again, I’ll turn you
a eunuch!
It sounded like a threat, but from Easton’s angle, looking down at her, she resembled a hamster whose stash of food had just been stolen. Even though she was puffed up with anger and trying hard to look fierce, she wasn’t the least bit intimidating. Instead, she looked kind of cute.
Easton didn’t dare admit he wasn’t the slightest bit afraid. If he said that, she’d probably hate him even more.
But his mouth moved faster than his brain. “If we’re talking about who took advantage of who, it was you last night. You were
