Chapter Seventeen: Wanderer novel Inexperienced

I continue to storm around the house and once I'm calmed down I stop and realize that I somehow ended up in the kitchen.

"Good enough for me," I murmur and open the freezer to see if there was any ice-cream and low and behold there was. To make things even better, it was mint chocolate chip my favorite. Closing the freezer, I head to the drawers and soon enough I find the silverware. I grab a spoon and then go over to the counter. I look at the chair and then the counter top. "Screw it," I say and jump up on the counter top, and once I'm comfortable begin to dig into the ice-cream. I let out a happy moan when the taste hits my taste buds. There's nothing better than ice-cream to soothe a troubled soul. As I'm sitting there eating, my mind wanders back to how I yelled at Mr. Gray eyes, how he looked at me in surprise. With my mind made up, I decided to just apologize to him next time I see him. I swing my legs back and forth and hum softly as I happily eat the ice-cream. I was so consumed with eating my ice-cream (pun intended) that I didn't notice that someone was sitting next to me until I heard light cough.

"Hello," Mr. Gray eyes greets me and I nod in greeting. "Mind if I...?" He says holding up a spoon and I nudge the carton towards him.

"Go ahead," I say and he digs in. "Sir listen, I'm sorry for the way I yelled at you, I'm also sorry for not following instructions," I apologize, my head and eyes casted down.

"Little one," he says softly as he lifts my chin up gently so that we're at eye level. "There's no need to apologize. You're new to this, I understand and I'm here to help you. Plus it's not your fault that that man and society have personal opinions on types of people. You are beautiful and I don't know how many times I need to tell you that to get it into that thick skull of yours, but eventually I will. Listen it's not you who needs to change your view on the world. It's the world that needs to change its view about you." Without hesitation I hug him.

"No one has ever said that to me before." I muffle into his chest and he lightly squeezes me.

"I'm glad I was the one who was able to tell you," he says soothingly as he rubs continuous circles on my back. I sigh at his touch and before I knew it, my eyes grew heavy and I could no longer keep them open. As my eyes close, I find surprise in the fact that my smile and the taste of mint chocolate chip seemed to linger on my lips.
