(FLASHBACK CONTINUES)

NATALIE'S POV:

My sleep got disturbed due to the chirping of birds. I opened my eyes and stretched my arms yawning. I was having severe pain in my neck and my entire body. I noticed the door of the house was locked till now, which indicates Uncle Tony and Aunt Maria did not return home yet. I removed my phone from my backpack and saw a text from Aunt Maria which read-

"We will be back by evening. Don't call or message us as we are busy"

Reading the message tears welled up in my eyes. They treat me like a servant, even worst than that

"I miss you, mom and dad, I wished you would have been alive!" I cried.

I sat on the stairs, waiting for them to come. Suddenly I noticed, Abram, standing at the gate. I swiftly got up from the stairs and proceeded towards him.

"What is your problem? Why are you following me? Are you spying over me?", I told bitterly.

"Natalie, please don't take me wrong. I just want to befriend you", Abram explained.

"But I don't want to befriend you", I spoke angrily.

"Okay, I am sorry for harassing you", He responded in a low voice and went away.

Few days passed like this. Abram tried to start a conversation with me while I used to ignore him. One day I was going on my way home, I saw my seniors following me on their bicycle. They were tantalizing me, bullying me but I ignored them and was walking with my head down.

One of the girls stopped my way. I pleaded to her, "Please move aside and let me go"

"Okay, go", She replied smirking. When I was about to go, she deliberately put her leg in between and I fell down on the ground badly, causing injuries on my knees and elbows. Tears started to roll down my cheeks.

"Oh I am so sorry, are you okay?", She asked smirking. I wiped off my tears and stood up from the ground. I was about to leave but this time the other girl, with her, put her legs in between and I fell down on the ground again.

I heard a sharp voice. "What is going on?"

I lifted my head up and saw Abram standing in front of me. I felt embarrassed and tears were running down my cheeks.

"Oh Abram, we are having some fun, you too join us", One of the girls told.

I thought, "Abram is a bully too. Perhaps that's why he was trying to befriend me so that he could later make fun of me and insult me!"

"Natasha, apologize to her right now", Abram told and I looked at him with my eyes wide open.

"What are you saying, Abram?" The girl, Natasha, asked Abram angrily.

"Didn't you hear, Natasha? Apologize to her, right now", Abram told and Natasha was shocked.

"Abram what are you saying? Are you kidding me?", She asked.

"No I am not", He spoke in a serious tone.

"I'll never apologize to this nerd", Natasha told furiously, giving me a deadly glare.

"Natasha, you very well know, my brother is the trustee of our school. It won't even take a minute for me to get you rusticated from the college", Abram said.

"Abram, are you fucking serious? You are going to get me expelled from the school for this nerd? Wow!", Natasha told clapping her hands.

"I'll just count till three, later don't blame me for the consequence you and your group will face", He warned them.

Natasha's friends began to apologize to me and went away from there leaving me, Abram and Natasha all alone.

"Come on Natasha, apologize to her", Abram told.

"Sorry", Natasha told, giving me threatening glares and went away. Abram bent down and helped me to stand up.

"Are you okay?", He asked worriedly and I nodded.

"Thank you", I spoke in a faint murmur.

"It's okay you need not thank me", He told passing on a friendly smile to me and I smiled back.

"Come, I will drop you at your home", He told smiling.

"No Thank you, my house is not very far, it's just a few minutes away, I'll go walking", I told politely.

"Oh so let me accompany you, walking, we will gossip", He told smiling cheekily showing his teeth.

I replied an okay and we proceeded towards my home.

"So with whom do you live?", Abram asked.

"I stay with my Uncle and Aunt", I answered.

"Oh, I see. Where are your parents?", He asked.

"They are dead", I replied sadly.

"I---I am so sorry", Abram told. I smiled and replied, "No--that's okay. What about you, who do you stay with?"

"I stay with my elder brother, my father passed away eight years back and after my father's demise within a few months my mom passed away too", Abram responded with tears in his eyes.

"There is my home", I told smiling.

"You come from a well to do family. Why don't you ask your uncle and aunt to complain against Natasha and their gang who bully you?", Abram asked.

"No person except your parents care for you", I replied sadly.

He smiled and replied, "But I do."

I didn't know how to respond so I just smiled and bade him goodbye. I was about to leave when he held my hand and I looked at him.
