Radiance Manor was the most high–end residence Brindley had to offer. The master bedroom on the second floor was adorned in dark Ivalian decor, accentuating its luxury and class.

The night was chilling.

Willow slept soundly on the dark bedsheet. The moonlight shone through the white curtains, casting a gentle glow across the room. It was as if the bed was covered in a pale glass.

Julian stood in front of the floor–to–ceiling window. There was gauze wrapped around his forehead. The family doctor dropped by and treated him earlier. 1

The sounds of a car engine could be heard on the porch.

Then, Esther led Liam and Melanie inside. The whole thing must’ve gotten a little out of hand and startled them.

Melanie walked over and checked out Julian’s wound, feeling utterly heartbroken. “Willow shouldn’t have hurt you like this, no matter how unhappy she was.”

Julian responded dismissively, “It’s nothing.”

She wasn’t happy about it. “Keep defending her and see where it gets you. This time, she cracked your head. Who knows what terrible things she’ll do next time?”

He frowned. “Every married couple bickers.”

She scoffed. “You two aren’t a married couple. Not anymore.”

As Jul and Melanie talked, Liam approached the side of the bed and stared at Willow. Underneath the lights, her delicate brows brought out how beautiful she was.

He couldn’t help but fall into a trance. Reaching out, he rubbed her forehead lovingly and murmured, “She looks just like her mother. This explains why I found her familiar when I first saw her. It turns out she’s her daughter.”

Then, Esther’s voice could be heard from outside. “The coffee is ready. You guys may take the conversation to the study.”

Liam calmly wiped the loving look off his face.

Liam, Melanie, and Julian were in the study.

Liam sat on the couch, took a sip of his coffee, and said in a serious tone, “Since Dad’s gone, no one can rein you in anymore, huh? It has only been a few days, and you’re already in this sorry state. What’s coming next? Are you guys going to start looking

for trouble?”

Melanie hurriedly went along with him. “You two can’t get along with each other. It’d be better if you just called it quits. I have several wonderful ladies waiting in line for you.”

Liam was immediately irritated by what she said. He snarled, “Shut your trap! Don’t take a page out of Karen’s playbook and keep thinking about doing something shady. Are you trying to throw the entire family into chaos?”

He commanded authority in his household. So, Melanie didn’t dare to say anything further.

Meanwhile, Julian had remained quiet the whole time. Pulling out a pack of cigarettes from his suit pocket, he took one out and slowly smoked it. He didn’t say anything until half of it was gone.

“Dad, Willow knows about Alicia.”

Liam immediately fell silent, and so did Melanie. He also lit a cigarette as he said slowly, “I told you. You can’t keep it under wraps forever. What lady wouldn’t mind something like this?

“Now that the truth is out, you have to really take care of her and avoid making another mess. For one, you are genuinely trying to win her heart back.

“Two, she is one of the Chapinans now, which means she has both power and prestige. You’ll have to consider your steps very carefully.”

Julian smiled bitterly. “You got it, Dad.”

Liam had more to say, but he sighed eventually. “If only Dad were still around. We would still have a clear set of regulations then.

They were all deeply disheartened when he brought up Dominic.

Liam finished smoking, drank the last drop of his coffee, and said, ‘Willow doesn’t like this brand of coffee beans. Get the beans from Northaven instead. She loves those a lot.”
