Willow was very frail. Heather had to hold her arm and help her get into the car. She looked at the ultrasound report in her hand, which showed that she was actually pregnant with two babies. One of them hid behind the other during the last scan, and that was why it avoided detection.

Willow was pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl. That was right. Her babies were still alive and well, but she had no intention of telling Julian about it.

She decided she would move to Yarrowmere when she was done with matters related to the listing. By all means, she wouldn’t return Brindley anymore. Her babies would grow up in Yarrowmere, and they would take her family name. They would be hers and hers only.

Willow stared at the report for a long time. Heather held her hand and said to her gently, “You have to eat more. Both of your kids need nutrition to grow up strong and healthy.”

She nodded in response. Turning sideways, she looked out the car window. The sun was bright, and Julian was standing far away from her.

By the time they met each other again, they were basically strangers to each other. Their marriage had given her nothing but a broken heart and a loss of hearing. However, her ears always rang in the middle of the night. She had made some adjustments, but it didn’t help much.

It was evening by the time Julian returned to the Ziegler residence. Dominic had moved on to a better place, and Melanie had fallen ill. Meanwhile, Liam stayed in the hospital to keep her company.

It was supposed to be a New Year’s Eve dinner, but things were quiet and lonely in the Ziegler family. Tyler, Karen, and Julian were the only ones at the dining table. Of course, there was Noah as well.

The dinner ended hastily, and Julian walked back to his private bedroom as the crescent moon shone its gentle rays on the hallway. He missed Willow dearly on forlorn nights like this.

However, the thought of her gave rise to regrets. He was once again reminded of the heart–wrenching night. He had been losing sleep recently because he kept dreaming about Grace and Landon.

Julian had kept the shoes with him, and he would look at them whenever he missed Landon, fantasizing about a world where his late, unborn baby was still alive.

Julian stood on the balcony alone. Pulling out a packet of cigarettes from his jacket pocket, he took one of them out and put it between his lips. He waited for a good while before he finally lowered his head and lit it.

Blue smoke rose in the air and blurred his vision.

Julian was reminded of New Year’s Eve last year. He also gave Willow an amulet here, wishing her peace and happiness. However, the hits just keep coming for her.

It almost seemed like bad things had kept popping up ever since Alicia had wanted to return to Brindley.

Willow had said that Alicia was behind everything that happened. A trace of doubt rose in Julian’s chest. Too many coincidences suggested a deeper intention. The thing was, he had known Alicia for over a decade, and it was hard for him to picture her as someone ruthless.

He frowned at the notion. When he was about to dial a number, his phone rang. It was Liam.

Liam asked Julian about the situation at home before asking the latter to swing by Heartwell Hospital. He was close to the head of the inpatient department, Clark Twain, who prescribed Melanie some medicine that would treat her condition.

Clark was on the same floor as Alicia. After Julian got the medicine, he was about to leave. As he walked down the stairs, a nurse called out to him. “Excuse me, Mr. Ziegler. The medical bill for Ward 512 is stacking up. Will you be settling it for her?”

That was where Alicia was staying.

Julian had stopped caring about her ever since that tragic day. Esther also wasn’t convinced anymore. It had only been a few days, and she couldn’t pay her medical bills already.

The whole thing was preposterous to Julian. Perhaps that was just how destiny worked. He felt a mysterious force leading him to Ward 512.

He arrived at the ward alone and found the door slightly ajar, which meant that someone was probably in there. He opened the door gently, only to be stunned by what he saw–a sexually charged scene.
