The snow in Brindley had melted, but Julian still had yet to return. When Willow checked the calendar, she realized it was already the 12th. That meant Cameron’s concert would be at 8:00 pm that night.

Willow suddenly felt like attending the concert alone, but Blair was worried about her. She nagged, “You just recovered. If you go out, you might catch a cold and fall sick again.”

Willow replied, “I’ll wear a thick down jacket.”

Blair had no choice but to dig some thick clothes out of the closet and help Willow put them on. She even got a warm cashmere scarf and wrapped it around Willow’s neck. “Get the chauffeur to drive you, or I’ll tell Mr. Ziegler.”

Willow agreed. Five minutes later, she was sitting in the black RV. Once Benjamin Henderson, the chauffeur, knew where to go, he hit the gas.

The black RV slowly drove out of Grandview Manor, leaving the lit house behind it as the neon lights of the city gradually appeared before it. The lights were in full bloom, filling the sky with colors.

The car stopped at the entrance of Brindley Theater. Its expensive, shiny body caused a stir in the crowd. Everyone wondered which rich lady from Brindley had come to watch the performance.

Willow grabbed the door handle and calmly told Benjamin, “You can return now. I’ll take a cab back home.”

Benjamin and Blair respected her very much and were too scared to go against her wishes. Even though it troubled him, Benjamin thought about it and ended up agreeing.

When Willow stepped out of the car, a gust of cold wind hit her in the face. She quickly strode into the main hall and got two VIP tickets from the ticket machine.

When a staff member checked the tickets, they kindly reminded her, “There are still 20 minutes until the show starts. Your partner can still make it in time. It would be a waste to lose such a good seat.”

Bitterly, Willow responded, “I came here alone.”

The staff member didn’t press the issue. After her tickets were validated, Willow entered the performance hall. She sat in the first row and enjoyed the performance she had been looking forward to all on her own.

She had set her phone to silent mode, so she didn’t know Julian was calling her. Her phone kept lighting up and going dark.

Chapter 58 1

“She kept saying stuff that we didn’t understand, and when she got a high fever, she kept talking about how cold it was and saying ‘Go away, Julian‘. Her fever hit 104 degrees. It was terrifying. Thank goodness you’re back, Mr. Ziegler.”

A chill ran through Julian’s heart. He didn’t know how to face Willow, nor how to explain why he broke his promise. Could he tell Willow about everything that happened? No, he couldn’t.

After a moment of silence, his voice softened. “If you’re not feeling well, why did you go out?”
