“What what’s all this!”

Maggie’s head swam, but she forced herself not to faint right then and there..

On the row of rolling clothes racks hung all sorts of weird outfits: school uniforms, flight attendant uniforms, maid dresses, bunny suits.

What’s with the long tail?

Sexy little fox?

Various flashy lace trims and silky fabrics adorned everything, making it all look overwhelmingly extravagant. Even the clothes that weren’t as over–the–top seemed to carry some sort of meaning.

Maggie couldn’t resist taking one piece out, her face a mix of emotions she couldn’t quite put into words.

Nathael. He’s into this kind of thing!

The person from my past life was nothing like this…

Maggie hung the clothes back on the rack and closed her eyes, feeling unsettled about herself.

So, did Nathael call me to get back at me for the cross–dressing stunt I pulled on him that day?

Maggie sank back into the sofa, eyeing the row of garish clothes, feeling her frustration skyrocket, wishing she could just leave right away.

But then Ericko’s call came in.

“Ericko.”

“How’s it there?” came the gentle voice through the phone.

Maggie calmed down a bit and let out a sigh. “It’s fine.”

Except for running into Nathael, the crazy pervert!

“Do you think Nathael… would help the Camerons family…”

Maggie couldn’t hold back and asked, but Ericko stayed quiet for a moment before speaking gently. “He’s always been a free spirit, so it’s possible.”

Hearing this, Maggie’s heart sank a little. She slouched on the sofa, looking disheartened, and staring blankly at the row of clothes.

Ericko’s original thought was that if she insisted on helping the Camerons, even if Nathael didn’t think much of them, he might not ignore them.

It’s like with the Chronopolis project before. Others didn’t know, but Ericko knew that when Maggie approached him earlier, he genuinely considered cancelling the cooperation with the Adams and using the project to support the Camerons.

Ericko surely didn’t expect his words to completely confuse Maggie.

After hanging up the phone, Maggie lifted her leg to leave. But after taking a few steps, her eyes fell on the clothes on the rack, and she turned back.

Actually. Some of them don’t seem too bad, right?

Is it just because these clothes are all mixed that they seem a bit hard to accept?

Maggie tried to reassure herself, then, fueled by alcohol, she reached out and grabbed a set of school uniforms before turning and entering the bathroom.

Just wear it, spice things up a bit!

If Nathael isn’t afraid, why should I be?

Maggie murmured to herself, trying to talk herself into it. A few minutes later, she was dressed in a navy blue checkered school uniform.

Looking at herself in the mirror, Maggie was speechless.

Indeed, I overthought it.

Is this even a normal outfit?

Why is the top so tight and the waist so high? Why is the skirt so short?

Maggie let out a sigh, planning to go pick out another, more conventional style.

But then, just as she stepped out of the bathroom, she heard the door being unlocked with a swipe.

Maggie stood frozen as the door swung open, revealing Nathael in a clean white shirt standing there.

For a moment, their eyes locked.

Maggie was stunned for a few seconds, her cheeks flushing even redder.

Nathael also paused for a moment. If it weren’t for the fact that the person before him was the one he couldn’t get out of his mind, he might have thought he had walked into the wrong room.

Even though they’d been together for so many years in their past lives, they both seemed to have built up walls, never really opening up to each other.

Nathael had his secrets, and she held grudges against him too.

He had his reasons and thoughts, while she had her plans and schemes.

She never really listened to what he had to say, or maybe she just didn’t buy it. And she wasn’t willing to share her thoughts with him either. She didn’t trust him and kept her guard up.

Now even though things weren’t quite as she expected, at least every moment of joy, anger, and confusion felt real.

They were just humans with desires, jealousy, and worries. They had their moments of anger, doubts, and second–guessing.

Life’s a long journey, and sometimes Maggie couldn’t help but wonder.

Where did all this determination come from? It’s just moving forward, trying to trust a bit more despite setbacks and fears, just offering a bit more warmth amid hurts and loneliness.

Then she found the strength again! pushing through the pain to walk a difficult path.

She did, and so did Nathael.

Perhaps sensing her gaze, Nathael slowly opened his eyes, looking at the delicate face before him, his Adam’s apple bobbing.

Maggie smirked mischievously, playfully teasing him. She gently placed her index finger against his lips, a gesture filled with allure and uncertainty, and whispered, “Are you happy now, Mr. Harris?”

Nathael’s narrow, obsidian–like eyes glinted. He gripped her chin firmly in his large hand, his voice low and husky. “Not quite yet.”

Maggie blinked her hazy eyes, her rosy lips resembling a dew–kissed rose.

Seriously?

What exactly does he want?

“Why not quite yet?”

Nathael kissed her fingertips, his gaze darkening. Then, as he lowered his head to kiss her neck, his voice. became low and seductive. “Change into something else.”
