Chapter 18 More Amazing Than You Can Imagine.

Maggie’s breath hitched, her legs weakened, and she felt a mixture of shock, fear, and embarrassment. She wanted to hide away in shame.

She swallowed and looked at Nathael, trying to maintain her composure. Her pale face was filled with righteous indignation as she scolded, “That’s nonsense! Who is spreading these rumors?”

Nathael was speechless.

He never expected that his patience would repeatedly lead her to question his abilities. It was utterly ridiculous!

Maggie squinted her eyes, unsure of how much he had heard.

Her determination to survive made her flatter him wholeheartedly. “Whoever is spreading these rumors should come and face me! How dare they say Mr. Harris can’t do it? Mr. Harris is incredibly capable! He’s the most capable person in the world!”

She continued to speak nonsense with all her might.

Nathael withdrew his hand, crossed his arms, and leaned against the wall, patiently watching her performance.

Maggie talked until her mouth was dry, and she ran out of things to say. She felt like she had hit rock bottom.

Nathael looked at her and asked with a deep voice, “How capable am I?”

Maggie suddenly stopped talking.

Was he addicted? Wasn’t he done yet?

Indeed, it’s said that people tend to show off what they lack the most!

Nathael must have faced a lot of ridicule and mockery in this regard, so he loved to hear others praise him.

Tsk tsk tsk… such a poor man.

Yeah, she needed to give him courage and confidence!

Maggie looked at him with pitiful eyes and said thoughtfully, “You’re more amazing than you can. imagine.”

Nathael stared at her for a while, then chuckled. He leaned close to her ear and responded with his husky voice, “Then you might have to shout a little louder.”

He turned around and left, seemingly in a good mood.

Maggie was speechless..

Was he sick?

After leaving Nathael’s house, Maggie received a call from Ronald and went back to the Camerons‘ house.

After becoming an adult, she felt she owed the Camerons a lot, so she moved out early. However, out of gratitude for the Camerons‘ kindness, she often returned.

But she never expected all the guilt she felt was a ridiculous scam.

Half an hour later, Maggie arrived at the Camerons‘ house and received a photo from Leo.

Maggie quickly flipped through it and laughed coldly.

The timing was perfect.

The photos showed Joseph and Vanessa having an affair. Some angles were unclear, but they were enough to identify the relationship and identities of the two.

As soon as she entered the gate, she saw Master Cameron and Madam Cameron sitting in the main seats with furrowed brows. Ronald and his wife, Olivia Pierce, loudly defended Maggic, “Dad, Mom, let’s wait for Maggie to return and hear her explanation first. Maggie has always been a good girl. She wouldn’t do such a thing.

Sierra sat indifferently on the side, playing with her phone. Joseph’s face was much uglier. His lips tightly pressed together, as if he had been betrayed.

Madam Cameron was also calculating in her mind. Although they had never seriously considered marrying Maggie to Joseph, they didn’t want her to fool around and diminish her value. After all, her looks were a rare commodity. They had raised her for so many years and still planned to marry her off for a good price.

Of course, they also needed to appropriately appease her. They couldn’t let this girl feel neglected and develop other thoughts, which would be detrimental to their family.

Madam Cameron immediately said, “I was too harsh. But I’m just worried about you. Tell us, is there something hidden in all this?”

Maggie lowered her eyes and spoke gently, “After the Adams banquet ended yesterday, I met up with Nathael again, hoping to discuss the Chronopolis project with him. But I couldn’t handle my alcohol and somehow fell asleep in his car

Maggie’s words were partly true and partly false, making it impossible to refute.

“But you didn’t come home afterwards.” Madam Cameron spoke in a deep voice without indicating whether she believed it or not.

Maggie realized she couldn’t deceive her, so she promptly admitted, “Yes, Nathael kicked me out of the car. My phone had no battery. I was wearing a dress and had no money with me. It took me several hours to walk home.”

As she spoke, tears welled up in her eyes, displaying her distress and endurance.

I’m sorry, Nathael. But for now, you’ll have to take the blame.

After all, one more accusation wouldn’t make much of a difference.

Maggie’s explanation was flawless, and most importantly, they had no evidence besides that single phone call. Judging by her behavior, they mostly believed her.

Joseph remained silent, seemingly the only one who harbored doubts.

Maggie paid no attention to him. Whether he believed her or not was inconsequential at the moment.

Master Cameron’s thoughts had already shifted to the Chronopolis project. After all, whether Maggie had a relationship with someone else was irrelevant to him. This commotion was merely their way of exerting control over her.

“What did Nathael mention about the Chronopolis project?” His cloudy eyes fixed on Maggie, brimming with impatience.
