Chapter 237 Boredom Creeps In

Nathael’s car ascended Table Mountain, the city’s lights muted, casting a serene aura. Seated inside, he fixated on the night sky, sidestepping certain thoughts.

He didn’t want to think why she wouldn’t take his calls, or why she threw Nolan off and shut down her phone, or how she was together with Leo.

Are you feeling restless? Or just tired of the relationship already!

Nathael glanced away, sensing a heaviness in his chest.

Seated in the passenger seat, Maggie’s gaze lingered on the vibrant red Lamborghini beside them. The flashy car drew her attention, as a rather charming affluent man gripped the wheel. He shot her a playful grin.

“Hey there, gorgeous. Fancy a spin in my ride? It’s way better than the one you’re eyeing,” he quipped, leaning out in an attempt to catch Maggie’s interest.

His remark failed to impress her.

Maggie chuckled, “Impressive? Prove it first, then we’ll chat.”

The man grinned, taking her response in stride. “Deal. If I win, you owe me a drink.”

Maggie chuckled once more, swiftly rolling up the car window before he could say another word.

With a sense of restlessness and a lack of interest in small talk, Maggie suddenly felt a stirring desire to cause some mischief.

Soon, a stunning woman in a revealing outfit, accentuating her curves, strolled to the starting line holding two flags, poised to kick off the race.

Engines roared, igniting the atmosphere with anticipation. Leo’s hands tightened on the wheel, his demeanour calm and collected, unruffled by the taunts of onlookers. He maintained his composure, displaying no eagerness for the imminent race.

Her head tilted, Maggie looked out into the night, thinking about her unfortunate state.

I’m still alive, but dead inside.

God, this is annoying.

D*mn you, Camerons!

Whoever came up with this poison plan must be cursed.

As Maggie mulled over the Camerons‘ intentions, their desire to use her for their own ends became clear. They craved the benefits of her success but dreaded the idea of her rising against them.

Absolutely revolting!

Deciding to allow herself a night of self–pity, Maggie pledged to stay authentic to herself when dawn

broke.

Chapter 237 Boredom Creeps In

At the race’s outset, a dozen cars roared to life, commanding the track with their speed.

The adrenaline–pumping velocity threatened to lift Maggie’s body away, snapping her back to the present moment. Despite the closed windows, the wind’s furious howl reverberated in her ears, accompanied by the exhilarating spectacle of tires gripping the road.

Excitement surged through Maggie, sharpening her focus.

Leo initially held a modest position, hovering around fifth or sixth place, with cars jostling closely both ahead and behind, keeping the race tight.

Yet, Maggie was keenly aware of the impending peril–a treacherous downhill stretch lay ahead, boasting sharp hairpin turns that promised a formidable challenge.

The section was notorious for accidents, drawing crowds of spectators to Table Mountain.

Amidst the cheers echoing around the area, a Maybach glided in, its arrival unassuming yet commanding

attention.

Nathael emerged from the car, his gaze locked on the imposing screen mounted on the mountain wall, his eyes intense and focused.

“Which one is it?”

As the crowd focused on the big screen, they chatted eagerly among themselves.

Nathael lingered at the edge of the gathering, his attention fixed on the screen, lips tight, eyes intense and unreadable.

In a matter of moments, the crowd burst into cheers.

“Did you see that? Unbelievable! What’s under the hood of his car? Is it all skill?”

“Believe it or not, his ride’s mostly factory. Just a few tweaks by Al before the race.

“Amazing! He’s holding third, but those twists ahead will test his speed!”

Only when Leo’s car deftly evaded the rear collision and zoomed ahead on the turn did Nathael breathe. easier, though his fingers still quivered slightly.

Following soon after, a convoy of cars entered a maze of winding roads, where the narrow, steep slopes posed imminent danger.

Despite a touch of queasiness from excess drink and the breakneck pace of the car, Maggie stayed composed, her worries confined to her unsettled stomach.

Leo and Maggie shared a bond forged in escapades atop Table Mountain, where they ditched classes for thrilling adventures.

Their camaraderie ran deep, both rebels at heart, constrained by the demands of society.

Years of conformity had melded their masks with their personas, blurring the lines between façade and reality.

If anyone tried to take off that mask, they’d be facing a bloody face.

The bends forced the cars in front to slow down, but for the racers trying to overtake their competitors, this was their chance.

It didn’t take long for a loud bang to tear through the air. A couple of cars in the back clashed and rolled to the cliff, hanging on by a thread.

The racers, luckily, clambered out of the precarious vehicles before disaster struck, though they were screaming and cursing.
