Chapter 377 Aren’t We Just Performing?
Maggie’s abrupt movement took everyone by surprise, particularly when she unveiled a concealed dagger. Sierra’s complexion drained, and her eyes betrayed unmistakable dread.
The dagger possessed a keen edge and was slender and frigid, casting a shimmer of frosty gleam. It hovered menacingly near her tender throat, inducing a faint prickle as a droplet of crimson appeared.
With merely a fraction more force, it threatened to breach her flesh.
Sierra quivered, the fleeting victory she had tasted moments prior now supplanted by dread, tears brimming in her eyes.
The two mercenaries beside them seemed surprised by this turn of events, and they immediately aimed their weapons at Maggie.
A foreign man, fluent in English with a resonant timbre, declared, “Set her free, or I will shoot!”
A smirk played upon Maggie’s lips as she remarked, “Rather than fretting over her, your attention ought to be on your allies beyond these walls. Should you dare lay a finger on me, departure from this place alive will not be an option.”
Her eyes held a profound intensity, unyielding as they met the man’s gaze.
Furrowing his brow, the man prepared to address Maggie when his team caught wind of something. hastening towards the door and conversing swiftly in a foreign language.
Following suit, the man cautiously joined his team, stealing a glance out the window before uttering a curse in English under his breath.
“Is this an undercover operative? This is a trap! What’s the meaning of this?”
He bellowed in fury, his agitation palpable.
Observing his distraction, Sierra couldn’t suppress her anxiety. “You can’t disregard me! You vowed to protect me!”
Maggie sneered, murmuring into her ear, “They’re occupied with other matters. Where would they find the time to bother with you? It would already be seen as merciful if the mastermind behind all of this didn’t kill you first.”
Sierra was terrified, fearing that any sudden movement from Maggie might cause the dagger in her hand to plunge into her neck.
She didn’t want to die here, even though her life was already a mess. She wasn’t ready to die yet!
“Maggie, no matter what, our family has raised you for so many years. Please calm down. If something happens to me, my parents will never let you off.” Her voice trembled as she softened her stance.
Maggie sneered, “So you’re afraid too? It hurts when the knife cuts you, doesn’t it?”
“Maggie, I was just confused for a moment. I was jealous of you! But I never meant to harm you. The things I said earlier were just to show off. I’ve always treated you like a sister. Why are you treating me like this?”
forming?
Sierra squeezed out a few tears, her words a mix of truth and falsehood.
Maggie raised an eyebrow and spoke softly, “Sister? That just goes to show that in your eyes, blood ties mean nothing!”
“Furthermore, do you think Ronald and Olivia will come to your rescue or seek revenge for you just because they know? No, they won’t. You’re already a lost cause. Olivia has a son to protect, and Ronald will do everything he can to distance himself from you!”
Maggie’s words seemed to have struck a nerve with Sierra. She gritted her teeth, her eyes reddening at the
Comics.
“Everything is your fault! Our family showed you kindness, yet you’re ungrateful! People like you deserve to be banished to the orphanage for eternity!”
Sierra spoke out angrily, perhaps feeling that even if she begged for mercy. Maggie would not let her off. She didn’t even consider the kindness the Camerons had shown her. Otherwise, how could she have done so many things?
Suddenly, the door was flung open with force by someone.
All the mercenaries were detained, and Maggie shoved Sierra away. Sierra stumbled and fell to the ground, holding her check where blood was trickling down, her expression dazed.
“Someone, help me! There’s a murder!”
t
Sporting someone enter, Sierra saw a potential savior. She hurriedly crawled forward, clutching onto the person’s thigh, tears and blood mingling on her face. “Help me! This woman is crazy! She’s lost her mind!”
“Apologies, Ms. Cameron, but you’re suspected of kidnapping, contracting a hitman, inflicting deliberate harm, and other offenses. You’ll need to come with us.”
A chill ran down Sierra Cameron’s spine as the cold voice echoed in the room. Before she could even comprehend what was happening, the icy embrace of handcuffs enveloped her wrists..
“It wasn’t me!” She protested frantically, her voice tinged with desperation. “The one who scarred my face was Maggie! Why aren’t you arresting her?”
Sierra fought with all her might, her hair in disarray as she squirmed on the floor. In the midst of her struggle, one of her high heels slipped off, further adding to her unkempt look.
Maggie stood frozen, her complexion drained of colour, wearing a vacant expression.
Every person carries a darkness within, but it’s crucial not to let it engulf you.
Nathael’s lips, drawn tight, hurried to her side at the sight of her pale face. He enveloped her in a tight embrace, murmuring softly, “It’s okay.”
Maggie found herself tearing up at the sudden warmth and reassurance. With a soft chuckle, she remarked, “Aren’t we just performing? Why does it feel so authentic?”
