"Sacha, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for throwing away our friendship. I'm... I'm... I'm so stupid. I don't know what I was thinking. I was so jealous of you that I... I... oh my god."
"Hey, just cry it out. I'm here for you." Tears filled my eyes too.
I guided her indoors and made her a cup of tea. I sat next to her, circling my arm around her neck as she sobbed lightly and drink at the same time.
Although what Remy had done was unbelievable, I couldn't turn her away now that she needed me more than ever.
"Did the police investigate the accident? How exactly did it happen?" I asked. "It's okay if you don't want to talk about it right now." I finished.
She took a deep breath before facing me. "It's all my fault and I would have to live with that and betraying you for the rest of my life."
I was astonished by her response. How was her mother's accident which resulted in her death her fault?
"How is it your fault?" I spoke my mind.
"She had been drinking and was crashing on my couch for a few days now. She wasn't taking any showers and she sulky everyday. But last night, I snapped at her. I was expecting a friend of mine to come over and I couldn't have my mother passed on the couch smelling like rotten fish.
I yelled at her. I told her to get out and get help. I wish I could take all those words back.
She left. She got into her car and drove away. After two hours or so, I got a phone call stating that she collided with a truck and was in extreme critical condition.
I should have known that she was going through something and she only wanted to be with me. I should have been there for her instead of throwing her out the fucking door!" Remy finished with a scream and started crying again.
She was angry with herself.
"Remy, I'm so sorry." Were the only words I could have said to try to ease her pain and frustrations.
"I came here because I know you're a good person and you'll understand what I'm going through and I also wanted to apologize for betraying you.
I felt so ashamed after our last confrontation that I returned every cent Christian's fiancée has given me."
"What? You didn't take anything?" I asked, popping my eyes opened at her.
"No. I felt too guilty and ashamed. I know that doesn't fix anything between us but I was hoping that I would help in receiving your forgiveness. Do you forgive me?"
It took a moment to sink in but I missed my best friend and I wanted her back. "Yes, I forgive you, girl. Come here." And I pulled her into an embracing hug.
Christian's POV
I was still crashing at my friend's place. It was Friday evening and I kept staring at my tux in the closet's door, wondering if I was ready to accept Audrey as my wife.
"Hey." Kevin said, poking his head into the guest bedroom that I was in.
"What's up?"
"Ready for your big day?" He asked, walking in.
"Man, I really don't know. I want to tell myself yes but something is saying no. I'm clouded." I sighed loudly.
"Christian, what are you saying?"
"I really don't know Audrey. I don't know." I raked my fingers through my hair and looked at her.
"Okay. Okay. Let's calm down and keep our heads here. This could all be pre-wedding jitters and it's normal to have cold feet or to question yourself on if this is really what you want but I can assure you, Christian, that us getting married is meant to happen. I don't want to lose you. I need you."
She slowly came over and places her palm on my left cheek. She tiptoed to get closer to my lips before kissing me. I allowed her to do so but there wasn't any spark or any rush or anything between us anymore. All those things had gone out the door when I met someone else.
I reluctantly pulled away.
"I can't wait for our honeymoon. Your mom strongly suggest Paris." She whispered.
"Mmhh."
"I think I'll leave now. The bride shouldn't spend the night with the groom the night before their wedding. I'll see you on the alter tomorrow. Okay?"
"Okay." I answered. She gave me one last quick kiss before I watched her go.
Sacha's POV
I allowed Remy to crash at Christian's summer house while she grieved and I silently coped with the heartbreak from not having Christian in my life.
It was Saturday. The day of Christian's wedding. There was to be a live stream on the whole event and I had logged on to view it. I wanted what was best for him and to see him happy even if that meant seeing him married someone else.
