Howie rolled around in pain, glowering at Wilbur. "Just you f*cking wait, you bastard!"
He got up after that, stumbling out of the door.
"It seems like your father isn't the biggest fan of talking to me."
Wilbur turned to Ellen, who had stepped out of her room and was staring at him in shock. She could hardly believe that Wilbur had defeated her own father so easily. Howie had been Ellen's worst nightmare ever since she was a child, but Wilbur had taken him down just like that.
Ellen felt like she was in a dream, standing frozen in a daze not knowing what to say.
"Get some rest. I'll make dinner."
Wilbur grabbed the bag of food they had bought and went into the kitchen. Ellen eventually snapped out of her stupor, rubbing her cheeks in disbelief. She went back into her room, staring at herself in the mirror as tears streamed down her face.
The dining table was laden with dishes not long after, making Ellen's heart warm once more. Just then, Ellen's mother Lisa asked, "You're Ellen's boyfriend, right?"
Wilbur froze for a beat, before nodding. "That's right, ma'am. I'm Ellen's boyfriend."
"That's wonderful! My baby girl has finally found a man who knows how to treasure her!"
Ellen sat there with her head bowed, tears streaming down her face. She had dreamed of a life like this many times, only to always wake up in the same wretched reality.
This time, however, Wilbur was real, and he had changed her life.
Wilbur went up to the door, swinging it open to the sight of Howie and four hooligans glowering at him.
Howie was positively steaming at the ears as he pointed at Wilbur. "That's him, the bastard who took over my family! Rip him a new one!"
The four hooligans charged over with their batons. Wilbur took two of them down with a single blow each before sending the remaining two hooligans flying with two kicks.
"How dare you!"
Howie looked around him, before rushing over with a baton of his own. "Get the f*ck out of my house, you piece of shit!"
