Chapter 13 

As the three men argued over who would be the one to help Bethany wear the bracelet, Bethany pretended not to hold it steady, and the bracelet fell to the floor with a crisp sound, shattering into pieces. 

“At that moment, Katerina’s heart shattered as well. 

“Ah, I accidentally dropped it!” 

Katerina knew perfectly well that Bethany had done it on purpose, but she was helpless.

Her eyes reddened as she frantically pushed through the crowd, kneeling down to carefully gather every piece of the shattered bracelet, her gaze fixed on Bethany. 

“These fragments are useless to you. I can pay for them.” 

Bethany, however, refused without hesitation. 

Miss Green, I’m sorry, but I really like this bracelet. Even if it’s broken, I want to keep the pieces. Thank you for picking them up for me.” 

With that, she snatched all the fragments from Katerina’s hands, and with the protection of the three brothers, she turned and left. 

Although she said one thing, as soon as they walked out of the auction hall, Bethany casually tossed the pieces of the bracelet into a nearby water fountain. 

The fountain wasn’t very deep, just about ankle–deep, but the bottom was decorated with countless pebbles. As soon as the pieces of the bracelet fell in, they nearly disappeared, leaving only a faint ripple on the surface. 

Katerina didn’t hesitate for a second. She quickly jumped into the pool, the heavy rain blurring her vision, making it even more difficult to find what she was looking for. 

She wasn’t sure how long she searched, but her waist ached, and her body was completely chilled through before she finally managed to gather the broken pieces of the bracelet. 

When she got home, water dripped off her body, leaving a trail on the floor.

Seeing her in such a sorry state, Tony frowned. “What have you been doing? Why did you make yourself like this?” 

Katerina’s eyes were swollen and red, tears continuously streaming down her face as her body. trembled uncontrollably. 

Her voice hoarse and desperate, she shouted: “I went to find the bracelet that you and your love broke and threw away–it’s my parents‘ heirloom!” 

“Your parents‘ heirloom?” 

Ethan instinctively repeated her words, and the three brothers froze. 

This was the first time they had ever seen her cry. 

For a moment, all three of them panicked. 

Ethan’s tone softened instantly. “I’m sorry, Kate, it was my mistake. I forgot that it was your parents‘ heirloom.” 

“I–I didn’t think of it either. If I had, I would’ve definitely taken a photo for you!” Tony hurriedly added.

Andrew quickly grabbed a towel, wiping the water from her damp hair. 

“Kate, I’m so sorry. Go take a shower. Don’t catch a cold and get sick.” 

“Also, I’ve said it many times before–Beth is not our lover. We don’t like her. You’re the one we care about.” 

“You care about me? 

Is that why I had to wait for them in the cold wind, outside the Civil Affairs Bureau, for an entire day and night? 

Is that why I had to protect Bethany without hesitation when hot soup was thrown on her, ignoring 

her? 

Is that why they let Bethany recklessly tear up my wedding dress and smash my bracelet? 

Hearing them say they only cared about her was a joke, the biggest one she had ever heard! 

All the sadness and helplessness she had felt were washed away by the rain, so now, she said. nothing. She simply pushed their hands away coldly and walked straight into her room, slamming

After locking the door, she didn’t clean up: she sat down, staring at the photo of her parents on the table, desperately trying to piece together the broken bracelet, but in the end, it was futile. 

Once it was broken, it was broken. It could never be the way it was before.
