Bella chuckled. "I didn't get any discount at all. If she gave you one, you two must really get along."

"When she was young, she was raised by her grandfather at the Hawthornes' estate. But the Hawthornes is a big family, full of internal squabbles. Later, she married Quentin, but he's often away, so she doesn’t have much support."

"If she hadn't become famous early on, she'd probably have struggled financially. It's understandable that she's tight with money."

Christine tucked her hands into her pockets. "We hit it off right away, probably because we've been through similar experiences."

Gregory played with her hand. "The Carters will be there too."

"The Carters?"

"They're the next family the Clarksons are considering for an alliance."

Jane furrowed her brow. "I wasn’t born into the Clarkson family, so I can't say much, but is it really okay to force things like this?"

Gregory replied, "This is already considered late. As soon as Dailey returned from his training at eighteen, they started scouting."
