Chapter 107
With just one hand, Dexter pinned both of Angela’s hands above her head. She had no choice but to look up at him.
At that moment, time seemed to freeze, and she caught a glimpse of her own panic- stricken reflection in his eyes.
A wave of humiliation crashed over her, and tears welled up in her eyes. Yet, she still gritted her teeth and glared at him in silence.
Dexter paused in the middle of tugging at her clothes.
For a moment, it felt like a heavy weight had pressed against his chest, making it hard to breathe.
While he hesitated, Angela pushed her foot and kicked his thigh. She broke free from his grasp and darted away.
Then, she ran upstairs and slammed the door shut with a loud bang.
Dexter snapped out of his daze, but the image of her teary eyes remained seared into his
mind.
She was no longer the weak and submissive woman she used to be. Now, she was stubborn and unyielding, ready to stand her ground against him. It was strange.
Dexter lay back on the couch, staring up at the massive crystal chandelier. His vision blurred without him noticing.
When had she changed so completely?
That question had taken root in his mind, but it was one he couldn’t answer.
Angela left for Montivale.
Fiona came to see her off. She was usually quiet yet today she said a bunch of things. She reminded Angela to keep an eye on the weather and stay safe.
“Alright, alright. I need to board soon,” Angela said, feeling helpless as she promised over and over to take care of herself.
Fiona checked her watch. “You still have ten minutes. By the again? What was it about this time?”

Angela’s face stiffened. Ever since she and Dexter had that falling out, they hadn’t seen each other, let alone spoken. Now, just hearing his name made her feel uneasy.

nothing to do with me,” Angela said with a smile as she brushed a lock of hair off Flona’s shoulder.
Then, she waved goodbye and left with Clara and the others.
Fiona watched Angela disappear into the distance. She sighed and spoke up, Come out.”
A door behind her opened, and Dexter walked out slowly.
“She’s gone.
“How do you really feel about Angela? She used to be so devoted to you, like she was nothing. Now that she’s so worked hard to move on and find her own way, why are you meddling in her life again?”

‘Fiona, despite being a woman, had no qualms about scolding her son.
Dexter gave a bitter laugh. “You make it sound like you’re happy I got divorced.”
He sighed and looked in the direction Angela had left. His heart felt hollow.
“You haven’t finalized the divorce yet,” Fiona said, glaring at him. “If you still have feelings for her, then show some sincerity. Don’t just hide back here like a coward, watching her leave with those young people.”
Dexter stood there, speechless.
“I’m not sure,” he said.

He really wasn’t sure about it. He used to be certain he only felt curious about Angela, but that wild heartbeat he’d felt that day was real. Now, he was confused.
“If you’re not sure, then figure it out,” Fiona said, frowning. She shot him a look of disappointment. “Think it over yourself.”
