With just one hand, Dexter pinned both of Angela’s hands above her head. She had no choice but to look up at him. 

At that moment, time seemed to freeze, and she caught a glimpse of her own panic- stricken reflection in his eyes. 

A wave of humiliation crashed over her, and tears welled up in her eyes. Yet, she still gritted her teeth and glared at him in silence. 

Dexter paused in the middle of tugging at her clothes. 

For a moment, it felt like a heavy weight had pressed against his chest, making it hard to breathe. 

While he hesitated, Angela pushed her foot and kicked his thigh. She broke free from his grasp and darted away. 

Then, she ran upstairs and slammed the door shut with a loud bang. 

Dexter snapped out of his daze, but the image of her teary eyes remained seared into his 

mind. 

She was no longer the weak and submissive woman she used to be. Now, she was stubborn and unyielding, ready to stand her ground against him. It was strange. 

Dexter lay back on the couch, staring up at the massive crystal chandelier. His vision blurred without him noticing. 

When had she changed so completely? 

That question had taken root in his mind, but it was one he couldn’t answer. 

Angela left for Montivale. 

Fiona came to see her off. She was usually quiet yet today she said a bunch of things. She reminded Angela to keep an eye on the weather and stay safe.
