Chapter 106
Angela turned around, dropping the scarf and gloves in her hands.
“Hey, don’t you accuse me of that! It slipped out by accident. Your mom was already suspicious and tricked me into confirming it. I didn’t do it on purpose.
“She’s your mom. She wouldn’t spread it around and damage your reputation. You lost nothing, so don’t try to pin any blame on me. I won’t let you use this as a reason to make our agreement void!”
Her expression changed noticeably. She stared straight at him, eyes blazing with both fury and fear. Yet she refused to back down.
Dexter watched her in silence. The light in his eyes dimmed little by little.
Was she really that anxious? Was she afraid he wouldn’t let her go?
“Then why did you tell my mom to set me up with someone?” he asked through gritted teeth, his voice forced out from deep in his chest, each word dripping with anger.
Before Angela could reply, there was a sudden noise from the guest room.
Angela forgot all about explaining and hurried over. She opened the door.
There was a woman inside. She was beautiful, looking sweet and innocent, but she was dressed in very little. She seemed shy and a bit uneasy. Clearly, she had heard the conversation outside.
“And
you are?” Despite her question, Angela could already guess who this might be.
The woman gave a hesitant smile. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt. I’m the daughter of Everest Properties‘ CEO. Ms. Rosewell really likes me and invited me to meet Mr. Bamford.”
It all clicked into place for Angela all of a sudden. No wonder Dexter was furious.
Fiona really didn’t know where to draw the line. She could’ve at least chosen a better place for a matchmaking meeting. Doing it here was utterly inappropriate.
“How about I give you two some privacy?” Angela asked cautiously. She believed in not standing in the way of a good match, so she decided to leave and give them some space.
The young woman looked startled. “I… I guess?”
Angela backed away. “Sure…”
She had only taken a few steps when Dexter grabbed her wrist with surprising strength. He pulled her into a tight embrace, his lips crashing onto hers before she could react.
Angela froze. Her entire scalp felt numb. What was he doing?

Dexter seemed to have lost control. The kiss was full of anger, like a raging fire that threatened to burn her to ashes.
After a short moment of shock, Angela managed to gather her senses. She used all her strength to shove him away.
Before he could react, she slapped him.
Dexter was completely stunned. The red handprint stood out on his grim face, and his dark eyes looked dangerous.
“Get out!” Angela snarled.
The young woman thought Angela was shouting at her. She bolted so quickly that she even lost a shoe in her panic.
Angela wiped her mouth roughly. She felt repulsion boiling up within her.
“Dexter, you’re despicable!”
His face darkened, his expression turning cold. He stepped closer, exuding an overwhelmingly oppressive air. “Despicable? Fine. I’ll show you what despicable really
means.”
With that, he strode forward, lifted Angela in his arms, and threw her onto the couch. Then, he pinned her down.
He was tall, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, and his arms were strong. No matter how she fought him off, he held her tightly.
Her attempts to push and shove him away ended up loosening the collar of his shirt. The neat black fabric was now wrinkled, giving him an even more overbearing air.
