Chapter 212 novel Love and Devotion No Longer His to Claim (Angela and Dexter)
When Angela arrived at the company, she planned to head straight up but was unexpectedly stopped at the front desk.
"May I ask who you are here to see? Do you have an appointment?" The receptionist was a pretty young woman, likely in her early 20s and freshly graduated from college.
Not wanting to make things difficult for her, Angela simply said, "I'm Angela Graham."
The receptionist looked utterly confused. "I don't know you. Please show your employee ID, or if you have an appointment with someone, you can ask them to call me."
It was the morning rush hour for the employees as they were all swiping their cards to enter. Seeing Angela being held up alone, many passing employees cast curious glances in her direction.
"Who is she? She's rather good-looking, but why is she being stopped?"
"Who knows? Maybe she's waiting for someone."
"Did you hear? Our company's getting a new CEO today. It's too bad we low-level employees won't even get to see what they look like."
With people coming and going, Angela couldn't help feeling a bit exasperated.
Nonetheless, she didn't get angry at all. Instead, she calmly took out her phone, opened the company's group chat, and showed it to the receptionist.
At this point, she guessed that someone was deliberately making things difficult for her, but she was already mentally prepared for it.
It wouldn't be long before those sneaky troublemakers hiding in the shadows would be completely dealt with.
"What's this?" A flicker of panic flashed in the receptionist's eyes, but she still refused to back down and stubbornly said, "Ma'am, if you don't have an appointment, please leave. Graham Group isn't a place just anyone can enter."
As soon as he finished speaking, he waved his hand grandly and said to the receptionist, "You useless fool, pack your things and get out. Don't bother coming in tomorrow!"
The young receptionist was utterly stunned. She'd only been working here a few days and had just been following orders from her superiors. How had she ended up getting fired?
"Hold on." Angela smiled faintly. "She's pretty young, and it wasn't intentional. Let her stay. Mr. Chapman, why scare a young woman like that? Aren't you worried people will say you don't care for your employees?"
Logan's expression immediately froze.
Had he miscalculated?
He'd originally intended to make a big deal out of this, painting Angela as someone who arbitrarily punished her employees, hoping to turn the company's employees against her and ruin their first impression of her.
