"That has nothing to do with me." Angela remained indifferent. "Dexter is free to do whatever he wants."

She genuinely believed that avoiding unnecessary interactions with certain people would save her energy and prevent her from getting emotionally drained.

Angela waited in the hospital lobby for nearly ten minutes, but when Dexter still didn't appear, she decided to head home.

Spending the past two days at the hospital had indeed been exhausting. Now that Elena and Dexter could comfort each other, there was no need for her to linger around.

Besides, there was a chance that her presence would ruin things for them. She knew better than to do what she shouldn't.

Unexpectedly, she had barely sat down at home when Dexter called.

"Why didn't you come to the hospital?" he questioned. His voice was cold, carrying an undeniable sense of pressure.

Angela shrugged. "I did, but when I heard that Ms. Carrey was with you, I decided not to disturb you. I even brought you some ravioli, but since they went to waste, I gave them to Dobby instead."

"You…" Dexter was so furious that he could hardly speak. "Come over right now. I haven't eaten yet."

"I'll order food to be delivered to you." Angela yawned. "How about I come by tomorrow morning? I just want a good night's sleep tonight. That will be all. Bye."

She truly was grateful to Dexter for saving her life, but she was exhausted. She'd rather rest now and repay his kindness properly tomorrow.

On the other end of the phone, Dexter had a very dark look on his face.

Elena watched him with misty eyes, her gaze carrying a knowing look of mockery.

"Dexter, isn't it obvious now? Angela no longer has feelings for you—why are you still holding on?"

If that hadn't been the case, he wouldn't have risked everything to chase after her when her life had been in danger that day.

Elena's face drained of all color.

She stared at him, and her voice trembled as she spoke, "And what about me? We've been through so much together over the years. I refuse to believe that you don't feel anything for me—"

Dexter cut her off, saying, "I have no feelings for you. I hope you understand that and move on."

His ruthless and cold words left Elena utterly stunned as she stared at him in shock.

It took her a long moment before she managed to choke out, "But… Angela doesn't even like you. Otherwise, why would she reject you just now?"

"That's my business." Dexter took a deep breath, his tone frosty. "For now, focus on recovering. Once you're better, I'll arrange for you to leave the country. From then on, you can spend your days abroad, atoning for your sins."
