Chapter 46 

Angela spent the afternoon bonding with her new pets. She set up cozy spots for them by the large floor–to–ceiling windows in the living room. In no time, the once–silent house came alive with warmth and activity. 

That evening, rain began to patter against the windows. Angela ordered takeout and prepared steak for herself, reveling in the small joy of solitude. 

On Monday, she reported to DawnStar Co. for her first day. 

The HR personnel led her to the design department on the 23rd floor. 

As soon as Angela stepped inside, she was stunned by the size of the space. The entire floor, around 5,000 square feet, was filled with the design department’s offices. 

“Hi, I’m Nora Rutherford, the head of the design department.” A stylish woman in professional attire walked over, her high heels clicking with each step. She extended a friendly hand to Angela. 

Behind her, the design department staff watched Angela curiously. 

Angela returned the gesture with a polite smile. “Nice to meet you, Ms. Rutherford. I’m Angela Graham.” 

“Of course. You’re the winner of this year’s Starry Design Competition. Mr. Snowden mentioned you to us,” Nora said with a faint smile before leading Angela into the office. 

Once inside, Nora introduced Angela to the team. 

“This is Angela Graham, our newest team member. She’s talented. You guys gotta learn. from her.” Nora crossed her arms. Her sharp, short haircut gave her a very professional 

appearance. 

However, after she spoke, there was no response from the group. 

Dozens of people watched Angela with varying expressions, as though she were some sort of oddity. Unfazed, Angela greeted them confidently. 

“You’ll sit here. But since there aren’t any active projects at the moment, you’ll be assisting with odd jobs for now,” Nora said. 

Angela stiffened. Odd jobs? 

Callum had personally offered her a two–million–a–year contract. Was she here to fetch coffee? 

Is there a problem?” Nora asked with an arched brow. 

“None at all.” Angela shook her head. She wasn’t about to stir up trouble with her superior

“Hey there!” A young woman at the neighboring desk leaned over. “You’re the Angela who won the ten–million–dollar prize, right? That’s amazing! How did you manage that? Did you study under a top designer for years?” 

Angela forced a modest smile. 

“I’ve had some training, but honestly, luck played a big part,” she replied while tidying her workspace. 

The woman nodded thoughtfully and seemed ready to continue their chat when a sharp voice interrupted, “Vanessa Terrell, what are you doing? Is this what we pay you for?” 

So that young woman’s name was Vanessa. 

But who was that fierce person? 

Angela glanced out of the corner of her eye and caught sight of a slender figure. 

She was dressed in a blue professional suit with her hair neatly cascading down her back As she passed Angela’s desk, she briefly glanced over and offered a small, courteous smile. “Pleasure to meet you, Angela. I’ve heard of your talents. I hope to see them firsthand soon. 

The remark drew a ripple of stifled laughter from the surrounding staff. 

Angela frowned slightly. “And you are?” 

“I’m Clara Winslow from division one of the design department. Just call me Clara,” the woman replied with a smile before walking off with a stack of files. 

The air felt lighter the moment Clara left, but Angela didn’t feel any more at ease. 

She sighed inwardly. It seemed like the competition here was fierce. But she had no intention of backing down.
