Chapter 94
Nora’s face was a kaleidoscope of emotions. Just moments ago, she had been vehemently defending herself, but now her mouth seemed glued shut, unable to form a single word.
In the end, the matter escalated to Callum.
Angela’s proposed resolution was straightforward: terminate Nora’s employment.
“This woman has nothing but ill intentions and is a constant source of trouble,” Angela said coldly.
“I’ve already agreed to apologize, and you…”
“I don’t accept it,” Angela interrupted, her icy gaze cutting through Nora. “Someone as selfish as you, who is willing to jeopardize the company’s interests for your own gain, is a liability. Keeping you around will only lead to bigger problems.”
Nora fell silent, instinctively looking to Stephen for help. He was the only one she could
count on now.
“Mr. Snowden, Nora is under my supervision. I take responsibility for her actions,” Stephen said, his voice hoarse and heavy.
“Then let her work at reception,” Callum replied without looking up. “If she wants to stay, she can spend a few months there to prove her sincerity in reflecting on her actions.”
Nora’s face turned pale as a sheet.
Reception?
She was a top student who had studied in Montivale, someone Stephen had personally recruited at great expense from another company. How could she be relegated to a role anyone could do?
Worse still, the reception position required interacting with all kinds of people and tolerating their attitudes. She couldn’t bear the thought.
“I won’t do it!” Nora fumed as she stormed out of the CEO’s office. “I’d rather die than be a receptionist!”
Stephen sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose “There’s no other choice given the situation.”
Tears welled in Nora’s eyes as she threw her arms around Stephen’s neck. “Stephen, you wouldn’t really send me there, would you?”
Usually, a bit of coy pleading was all it took for Stephen to give in to her demands. But today, he said nothing.

Nora’s hope faded, replaced by uncertainty.
“Even you can’t help me?” she murmured, collapsing onto the couch.
It’s all that damned woman’s fault!
Nora’s anger surged as she slammed her fist into the couch. Suddenly, an idea struck her like lightning.
“I’ll resign,” she declared, springing to her feet “I’m going to work at one of the Graham Group’s design companies.”
That night, Angela worked late. Halfway through, she felt discomfort in her stomach. Thinking it was just hunger, she asked Evelyn to make her some oatmeal.
But by midnight, a sharp, unbearable pain in her stomach woke her from her sleep.
The pain was so intense it left her drenched in cold sweat.
Shaking, Angela grabbed her phone to call Evelyn to get a doctor. Her hand slipped, and she accidentally dialed Dexter instead, Without thinking, she told him her stomach hurt terribly.
Dexter arrived quickly.
However, because Angela had a habit of locking her bedroom door from the inside, it took a while to get in. Eventually, Fiona came over and unlocked it with a spare key.
“What’s going on with you?”
Dexter was dressed in loungewear, his freshly washed hair softening his usually sharp demeanor.
Angela was trembling, her face pale. “Stomach… it hurts… hospital…” she managed before curling up in pain.
Dexter wasted no time. He scooped her up and headed for the door.
Meanwhile, Fiona cast a suspicious glance around Angela’s room. There were no traces suggesting Dexter had stayed there before.
