Bryce pressed his lips together in a cold, calculating way as he pulled an ID card from his pocket and handed it to Florence. "Here's your fake identity. I pulled some strings at the Banyan City Police Department to get this done. Your name is Florence Tennyson now."
He paused, locking eyes with her. "This should keep Parisa from suspecting anything about you. We don't want her snooping around and digging into your past back home. Even though I've smoothed over most of it, there's always a risk of something slipping through."
Florence glanced down at the ID, a small smile playing on her lips. "You're always one step ahead, Mr. Lutz."
"Good thing I am. After tonight, it's clear Parisa is no simple woman. We need to tread carefully around her. She's talking about going back to Banyan City, and I'm not sure what that means. Could she be trying to regain her memories?"
Bryce's expression turned icy, his gaze sharp. "If she's after her memories, it means she doesn't fully buy into the story you've been feeding her. Florence, once you're in Banyan City, you need to keep a close watch on her. If she starts getting out of hand—"
He crushed the cigarette between his fingers and shot a chilling look toward Florence. "There's always the last resort: use the drugs from your lab. With her back in the country, and with Keegan and Whitney still around, we're sitting on a powder keg."
Bryce seemed to weigh his options, a cold smirk forming. "I thought we could con her into a trap, but tonight showed me it won't be that easy. If she decides to dig around on her own, we'll have to take control. You'll secure her inheritance rights, end of story."
He made a decisive gesture with his hand, and Florence's eyes widened, a chill creeping up her spine. Bryce was terrifying, his ambitions boundless. Even Parisa wasn't safe from his lethal intentions.
Yet, after a moment, a shadow of resolve darkened Florence's eyes. If they were pushed to this point, then perhaps Parisa had it coming for doubting them so much. They'd already deceived her this far. If she couldn't trust them, drastic measures were on the table. Before Ludwik could catch wind of anything, they'd seize her vast empire.
"Let's prepare for both outcomes, Mr. Lutz," Florence's voice was low, a hint of cunning in her words.
Frustrated, Parker called Tiana, only to learn that Whitney had gone off the rails and drowned her sorrows at a bar, while Ludwik had gone after her.
With Felix driving, the two sped through the night to the bar, only to find it deserted. They questioned the bartender, who recounted the scene with wide eyes. "A tall, handsome guy came in, had a bit of a row with the drunk lady, smashed a few glasses in the process. Luckily, he managed to calm things down. He left with her when she started bawling."
"Left? Where did he take her?" Parker pressed, anxiety creeping into his voice. He needed to talk to Ludwik about the mysterious figure, and it couldn't wait.
"Dragged her into a car and drove off. No clue where they went," the bartender shrugged.
Felix furrowed his brows, a thought striking him. "Must be Mr. Nelson's clinic! The little miss is hidden there. Mr. Lippert probably took Ms. Valentine to see the child. I'll call Sammy right away!"
