In a flash, Felix returned with his phone in hand. "Mr. Doonan! Mr. Lippert has gone to the children's hospital. He's probably trying to explain everything to Ms. Valentine, but... this secret has been kept for so long, I'm not sure Ms. Valentine will be able to handle it right away."
Yeah.
Thinking of the sudden appearance of the baby, Parker felt his brow furrow deeply.
How on earth was Ludwik going to explain it all in a way Whitney could understand, without losing her mind?
Ugh.
"We need to get over there. I've got urgent news for Ludwik too!" Parker said, spinning on his heels and heading out the door.

At the Nelson Pediatric Center, in the intensive care unit tower, Whitney found herself being practically dragged by Ludwik's firm grip on her wrist. He had pulled her right out of the car and was now leading her towards the third floor.
She resisted the whole way, her mind a chaotic swirl of confusion, disbelief, and pain.
"I don't want to go..."
"Look at her, our daughter!"
"No, no way, it can't be..." she stammered, bewildered. How could there suddenly be a daughter she never knew about?
She hadn't given birth to her.
Ludwik watched her, seeing the exhaustion etched on her delicate face, her pale skin stretched tight over her brow, veins standing out. She looked so lost, so scared.
She was in so much pain! Terrified!
Ludwik pressed his lips into a thin, determined line and said nothing more.
Striding into the third-floor intensive care unit, he barked out orders, "Nurse, get the doctor here, and call in the lab techs. I need a blood test!"
"Open the door! Unlock my daughter's room!"
Whitney dug in her heels, refusing to go any further.
Ludwik, with his strong arms, simply scooped her up, effortlessly controlling her struggling waist and legs. He carried her to the glass wall of the intensive care unit.
Just yesterday afternoon, Whitney had stumbled upon the unfamiliar baby girl in this very place.
"She is your daughter, and a paternity test will prove what I'm saying is true!
I regret more than anything that I had to keep this from you until now.
She's very sick, born too early and not cared for properly in Florence's womb!
Whitney, please, try not to shut her out."
Ludwik implored her, his tone heavy with remorse, forcing her gently but firmly towards the incubator.
"I don't want to see her..." Whitney's voice broke into sobs, pushing against him, rejecting everything.
His eyes turned cold as he glanced at the nurse who had followed them. "Get a syringe! Draw her blood!"
"What are you doing?" Whitney gasped, realizing as he gripped her pale wrist and rolled up her sleeve.
Her face blanched.
Ludwik's expression was pained but resolute. "There’s a sample of our daughter’s blood. Now we’ll take a sample of yours. The lab will give us the results, proving she's your daughter. You can't deny it any longer, even though I know this is hard for you to accept!"
