I would have immediately ran off to get help if I didn’t know how to swim. And if he didn’t survive because of this, “I wouldn’t have it on my conscience as I would know I had tried my best.

I definitely wouldn’t be standing here hesitating as I struggled with myself.

Because I did–I knew how to swim.

I had seen a psychologist after I nearly drowned in the pond last time. Thus, I was no longer afraid of the water and could swim again. That being said, I wasn’t sure if I could save him. While I had regained the ability to swim, I no longer had the same confidence or stamina.

A large wave dragged the man further out to sea while I struggled to make a decision. I realized then that it wouldn’t matter if I wanted to save him–I wouldn’t be able to if he drifted out any further.

Thus, I steeled myself and jumped into the water.

I had been lucky enough to be saved every time I was in a life–threatening situation. Because of this, I was eternally grateful that someone had chosen to save me each time. Now, I couldn’t just watch as someone drowned in front of me.

Thankfully, a big wave didn’t crash down on us when I grabbed hold of him. So, I was able to drag him back to shore.

However, my limbs weren’t what they used to be, and I was exhausted when we finally made it. I collapsed onto the sand beside him and didn’t have the energy to move.

Cordelia still hadn’t returned yet for some reason, despite saying she would do so quickly.

I lay there for some time before I eventually recovered some strength. Once I did, I checked on the man I had

rescued.

It was completely dark now, so I wasn’t able to see his face clearly. Because of this, I had no choice but to feel his face blindly until I found his nostrils. Once I did, I checked his breath. Feeling that his breathing was weak, I hurriedly performed CPR.

With a cough, he vomited a lot of water. I only stopped chest compressions once I was sure he was okay.

But why wasn’t Cordelia back yet? She had been gone for so long now–something had to have happened to her.

Mustering up my strength, I began rolling the man in the direction of the hotel. I stopped once he was almost on the main path. Once I was sure he was safe from being dragged out to sea by the tide again, I anxiously rushed toward our villa.

Shortly after I left, a woman dressed in the hotel’s housekeeping uniform emerged from behind a coconut tree. Her hands clenched into fists as she watched my retreating figure. She seemed to regret something.

The woman was about to leave when she noticed the man lying on the ground. He was wearing a limited edition Bartophille watch. It was worth at least ten million dollars!

Her eyes narrowed slyly, and a plan instantly came to her mind. Crouching down, she confirmed he was still unconscious. Then, she dragged the man onto the garbage cart beside her and took him away.

I finally ran into Cordelia when I was almost at our villa. She was alarmed to see me drenched.
