Chapter 289
Sure enough, there was a burn scar and a recent bullet–sized scar rear his heart.
Unexpectedly, I started crying when I saw them. I couldn’t control my tears. My emotions hit me so suddenly and intensely that I was overwhelmed and defenseless.
Timothy reflexively reached out to wipe away my tears when he saw this.
He didn’t understand what was happening to him. He obviously had a wife and memories with her, but he couldn’t accept her touch. Yet, he had the urge to get closer to me.
When I brought up treating his leg, Timothy had instinctively wanted to go with me despite the late hour. Then, when I told him to remove his shirt, he had done so without hesitation. Everything about this was unreasonable, yet he wanted to do everything I asked.
He was about to ask me why I was crying when men dressed in black barged into my studio.
Once they had taken their places, an imposing–looking lady and Mrs. Hardwell entered. The lady immediately scowled when she saw Timothy shirtless and reaching out to touch me.
She wordlessly strode forward and, without warning, slapped me so harshly that my head turned to the side.
I was utterly blindsided, but the slap had also snapped me out of my emotional haze.
The lady then raised her hand to slap me yet again. This time, I grabbed her arm as it swung toward me and squeezed it. The lady’s face twisted in anger from the pain.
Agatha Fairchild was born into a prestigious family. Then, she married the head of the Hardwell family and became its matriarch. For as long as she had lived, no one had dared give her attitude, let alone physically harm her.
Yet now, I dared grab her arm so forcefully.
“What are you all just standing around for? Strip her and toss her in the streets!” she ordered.
My eyes widened in shock.
Despite looking so noble, Agatha’s behavior was unscrupulous. Not only had she hit me without saying a single thing, but she even ordered others to do something so disgraceful.
“Mom! What are you doing!” Timothy scolded.
His furious expression and frosty tone were frightening.
He didn’t know why he felt terribly pained when I was the one who had been slapped. In that moment, he despised his useless legs as they had prevented him from stopping that slap in time.
“What am I doing?” Agatha repeated, incredulous.
She yanked her arm free from my grip. “I’m punishing this shameful woman, of course! She’s boldly trying to seduce you despite knowing that you’re married. Since she’s brave enough to act so indecently, I may as well show it to everyone!”
“What are you talking about, Mom? She’s just treating my leg! I’m shirtless, so she can check my meridians in order to calibrate the therapy for me accordingly,” Timothy explained.
He continued berating her, “How could you hit her without even understanding the situation first? Why would she choose to continue treating me now with the way you’ve just behaved?”
Agatha was about to speak when Grace walked forward and placed a hand on her arm.
“I know you’re worried because I’m pregnant, Agatha, but Tim isn’t that kind of man. And even if Ms. Quill was i inappropriately with him, it was only because she had mistaken him for someone else,” Grace reasonéd.
