“I agree,” Grace said. “Which is why I suspect you hadn’t given birth to fraternal twins but rather identical twin boys back then. One of them must have been switched at birth.”

She knew there needed to be an explanation for why Irvin and Timothy looked so much alike. Thus, she might as well reveal they were identical twins. However, no one aside from the Hardwells could know the truth behind why both boys hadn’t grown up together.

So, the only other believable story was that one of them had been switched at birth. Most importantly, the twin that died was Irvin, and the remaining one was the Hardwell heir, Timothy.

It was true that in this world, two people couldn’t look exactly the same unless they were blood relatives.

I had mistaken Timothy for Irvin when we first met. That was why liad suspected they were identical twins. I wasn’t surprised by what Grace had said. Even so, I felt one of the twins couldn’t possibly have been switched at birth.

As I said before, Claudeville and Lestoria were thousands of miles apart. Even setting that aside, the Hardwells weren’t any ordinary family. There was no way one of their children could have been switched at birth.

When I heard what Grace said next, I was even more certain that the truth behind the twins‘ separation was something else

“I know you’re heartbroken over your husband’s death, Ms. Quill, but Tim isn’t him. If your husband and Tím actually are identical twins, that means Timothy is your older brother–in–law.”

I narrowed my eyes. If one of them truly had been switched at birth, how was she so sure that Timothy was the older twin?

Turning to Agatha, Grace then continued, “And it also means Ms. Quill is technically your daughter–in–law, Agatha. She just badly misses her lost husband, so please be more understanding toward her.”

Agatha snorted derisively. “We’re not even sure if they’re twins. And even if they are, this is who the lookalike married? This girl? Is she even worthy of calling herself my daughter–in–law?”

Her contemptuous attitude made it clear that she thought I was beneath her.

Timothy’s gaze turned stormy when he saw how scornfully she treated me.

He felt I was more likely to be his wife than Grace. If he wasn’t Timothy but instead his identical twin, this meant the life he knew wasn’t actually his. It would explain the persistent strange feeling he had.

However, he couldn’t even move from the wheelchair right now, so he couldn’t act strangely. So, he lowered his head to hide

what he was thinking.

“My recovery depends entirely on Ms. Quill’s treatment plan, Mom,” he said. “Don’t tell me you want me to spend the r rest of my life in a wheelchair?”

His purposeful words were an indirect warning to Agatha to respect me.
