Chapter 313
Dorothy had accompanied Grace all this time.
Before I could say anything, she pointed at me and shouted, “It’s her! Emilia Quill is this bitch, right here! Not only did she try to seduce Mr. Timothy, but she even pushed Ms. Grace down!
“Oh my, Ms. Grace has suffered so much! Her pregnancy had finally stabilized when she reached 5 months, and she could sleep soundly again. But then this crazy woman pushed her! You must punish this wicked woman, officers! She must be severely punished!” she exclaimed.
Dorothy’s cries were so sorrowful that everyone believed I had pushed the pregnant Grace over. This was an unforgivable and heinous crime that deserved the harshest punishment.
And given Grace’s status, if the officers handled this well, they would also win the favor of the Hardwell family.
After Dorothy’s outburst, party guests began stepping forward and testifying that I had gotten into a conflict with Grace. They also said I had indeed pushed her.
The many eyewitnesses present confirmed that I had pushed Grace Aside from them, there was also blood on the floor. Plus, I had a motive.
Because of all this, the police asked me to come with them to the station.
Mrs. Rudford could stop the Hardwells‘ security team from taking me, but she couldn’t stop the police. As such, all she could do was look at me with worry.
I wanted to put her at ease but couldn’t find the words for it. Besides, even if I could, nothing I said could possibly do so. This was because we both knew it would be hard for me to be released once was taken into police custody.
Many eyewitnesses were claiming I had pushed Grace. With the fact that she was actually injured, there was no way for me to prove my innocence.
Irvin wasn’t a fool. If I could see through Grace’s actions, he certainly could too.
He was now in the car with Grace. She was in so much pain that cold sweat trickled down her forehead.
Seeing this, Irvin couldn’t hold back from scolding, “I know you’re ruthless, Grace, but you’ve gone too far! How could you put your unborn son in danger just to harm someone else? Plus, you’re over five months pregnant. Aren’t you worried your stunt will cost you your life too?”
Grace let out a bitter and miserable laugh upon hearing this.
“You said it yourself… I would be risking my life by falling over… especially this far along… But do you really think… I’m stupid enough to risk… both my life and my child’s… just to frame her?” she said with labored breath.
Inhaling deeply, she continued, “Is she even worth doing so? If I truly wanted to ruin her, I have plenty of ways to back her into a corner… I don’t need to resort to this…”
Irvin knew full well that I wasn’t the type to retaliate physically against others, especially a pregnant woman. That could only mean Grace’s actions were a calculated move to frame me.
However, he didn’t know how to respond to what she had said.
Grace wasn’t just the Hardwells‘ daughter–in–law. She also had a family background that surpassed mine. If she wanted to, she had plenty of ways of destroying me. She didn’t need to risk her child or life to do so at all.
Suddenly, Grace hugged her stomach and curled up in pain.
“My child… My son… Please… Please save my son. If something were to happen to him, I–I won’t want to live anymore…” she
