“We’ve let a wolf in sheep’s clothing into our home, Grace!” Agatha lamented.

Grace and Agatha had thought they could use Irvin. Yet, not only had they failed to, but he was now even oppressing them. They truly had made a mistake by bringing Irvin back to the family.

“Yeah…” Grace agreed.

She initially wanted to turn Irvin into her greatest pawn–using him to seize back power over the Keller family and then to become the true power holder in the Hardwell family.

However, she had forgotten that he was a Hardwell.

And once Irvin had gained Magnus‘ recognition, he would quickly turn things around and be the one calling the shots instead.

At first, Grace had set her sights on Irvin because of his business acumen. Now, ironically, she had been beaten by the very thing that had caught her eye.

She had always thought she was intelligent. However, it was now clear to Grace that not only was she a fool, she was also incredibly naive.

On top of that, she had underestimated Irvin and me. She had thought she could have it all because she felt she was untouchable. And yet…

This time, Grace could only blame herself. She had been overly confident. Thus, she absolutely couldn’t make the same mistake again.

As a thought crossed her mind, Agatha dismissed their bodyguards

Then, she held Grace’s hand and said, “Don’t worry about anything else for now, Grace, especially those two worthless people. Just focus on resting and recovering your health. And once you have, we’ll continue with our plan to take control of the Hardwell family!

“We definitely can’t allow that bastard Irvin to have full control of the family. He’s only just earned Magnus‘ trust and approval. Yet, look at how arrogant he is acting. If he becomes the next head of the family, there won’t be any place left for us!”

Grace squeezed Agatha’s hand in return. “I agree, Agatha.”

She already knew her unborn child had a heart defect and couldn’t be the next heir of the Hardwell family. Hence, she had kept Irvin around because she planned on having a child with him. And once she did, she would get rid of Irvin and rule the Hardwells.

But it was her own fault that her plan was backfiring.

She had faced too few setbacks in life, and because of this, she had poor emotional resilience. That was why she had lost control over a few sharp words from me. And because she had, Grace had made a rash mistake which almost ruined her original plan.

In the end, she was the one responsible for her current situation.

Grace realized she also would’ve lost it all if I had been less in control and rational when I had hit her. If I had struck her abdomen–her most vulnerable spot–instead of avoiding it, she would’ve been seriously injured.

If that had happened, she wouldn’t have been able to recover from it. Then, she could forget about her plan and about calling the shots in the Hardwell family.

This realization made her break out in cold sweat, Grace had made a mistake–she had really messed up.

A person like me with a lowly background wasn’t even worth her time. So, she shouldn’t be petty with me when I wasn’t even worth risking everything for.

She couldn’t make the same mistake again–absolutely not!
