Chapter 369
Only after our car had driven far into the distance did William finally withdraw his gaze from Noah’s car.
“Was Ms. Quill’s assistant rescued?” he asked.
Matthew immediately replied, “Yes, she’s been taken to the hospital. She’s out of danger.”
William hummed indifferently in response, then got into the car and left.

By the time I woke up in the hospital, night had already fallen.
I was surprised to see Noah sitting at my bedside–surprised that was still alive and that it was Noah who had come to save me.
Seeing me awake, Noah stood up excitedly. “Emi, how are you feeling? I’ll get the doctor!”
I wanted to tell him I was fine, but my voice came out hoarse when I opened my mouth.
Suddenly, I remembered something and quickly reached out to grab Noah before he could leave to call the doctor.
Before I could even ask, he already knew what I was going to ask. “Your assistant’s fine. She woke up even earlier than you,” he said.
Hearing that, I breathed a sigh of relief.
Noah smiled. He really was like a younger brother, understanding me so well that a single glance was enough to guess what I was thinking.
He called for the doctor, who gave me a full examination. I was completely fine other than swallowing some water.
Noah finally relaxed after hearing that.
After drinking some throat–soothing syrup, my throat felt much better. Then, I realized something and looked at Noah curiously. “Weren’t you supposed to be in Xandria today? Why are you here? How did you end up saving me?”
“I had a last–minute meeting here, so I landed a few hours before you did,” he explained.
He felt that William was right. Since he was the one who had asked William to save me, it was the same as saving me himself. There was no need to explicitly say that it was William who had saved me.
Besides, he didn’t see saving her as a big deal. After all, the entire incident had happened because of him.
Feeling the need to explain, he added, “I rushed over to save you since all of this happened because of me. I was the reason the person tried to have you killed.”
Noah then told me that he had refused an arranged marriage. After the woman found out that he had feelings for me, she tried to get rid of me, which led to the incident today.
Hearing that, I didn’t even know how to respond.
I had thought it was Grace, assuming she had sent someone after me because I had humiliated her at the airport.
“I’m sorry, Emi… for involving you in this,” Noah said. He felt terrible for nearly causing my death. He didn’t even have the chance to be with me yet.
Seeing how distressed he was, I quickly tried to comfort him. “It’s not your fault. And anyway, you’re the one who saved me. I’m fine now.”
He didn’t say a word and just hugged me tightly. He didn’t even want to imagine what might have happened if w….am hadn’t been on the same flight as me.
