Ava just couldn't understand it. She couldn't fathom how a mother like this could exist.

Ava had lost her own mother when she was very young. But in her memories, her mother had been the gentlest and most loving person on earth.

She used to believe that she and Noah were very pitiful because they had lost their mother at a young age. She had thought there was nothing sadder than growing up without a mother.

But now, seeing how my birth mother behaved, Ava suddenly felt that motherless children weren't more pitiful. Instead, growing up with a mother like mine was much worse than growing up without one.
