Chapter 23
Thousands of meters above the ground, light and soft clouds floated and swayed outside the window, seemingly within reach.
After taking a short nap, Ruth woke up and saw a pair of pitch–black pupils staring at her without blinking.
She picked up her phone and pressed it, only to see that it had been just two hours ago. Unable to help it, she frowned.
Seeing her expression, Liam quickly handed over the warm water he had prepared long ago, his
voice tinged with a hint of nervousness.
“Did you have a nightmare? Or did you dream about something unpleasant?”
Ruth happened to be thirsty as well, so she took the glass of water and drank a few sips.
After she put down the cup, a plane happened to fly over a city.
She stared at it for a while, and when she looked away, she saw Liam with a face full of grievances.
“Ruth, I confessed everything to you, why have you been ignoring me? Are you still mad at me?”
Ruth suddenly realized that she hadn’t said a word all afternoon.
At first, she was shocked by what he said, and her mind kept replaying past events. She was in no
mood to talk.
After getting on the plane, she became more and more tired. Unconsciously, she fell asleep and quickly forgot about this matter.
She only remembered that she should give him a response when she heard his cautious probing.
To be fair, Ruth was somewhat angry in her heart about Liam deceiving her.
It’s not because of the act of deceiving, after all, she had always regarded him as a money–strapped pretty boy from the beginning, and even proposed to financially support him. Just the dirty thoughts alone, she feels ashamed when she thinks about it, so naturally she wouldn’t mind him
hiding these things.
What she cared about was that she had already confirmed the divorce, but he was still pretending
and deceiving her.
He had already proposed to her, but he still didn’t tell the truth. Until when was he planning to keep
it a secret from her?
So even though she forgave his actions, the anger that was bottled up inside her had not yet dissipated, and she needed a perfect outlet to vent.

Watching him put on that familiar vulnerable and easily deceived look again, her heart Involuntarily softened once more.
In order not to be disturbed by him, she raised her hand and gently placed it on his face, speaking
softly.
“Of course I was still angry, you had deceived me for so long, how could I know if what you said was true or if there was something you were still hiding from me?”
Through the gap between his fingers, Llam saw her cold face and quickly raised his right hand.
“I swear, I said everything that needed to be said, and if there was any concealment, may I be struck by lightning…”
Without waiting for him to finish, Ruth covered his mouth with her hand, her tone filled with helplessness.
