Chapter 85 

For some reason, I didn’t find the complex lighting at the amusement park. daunting. Now, this seemed messy and I didn’t want to deal with it. 

“Don’t you trust me?” Brandon asked. 

“No, it’s just “My gaze fell on him. His shirt was noticeably dirty, and his pants. 

were wet. 

Seeing him like this, I felt a pang of guilt: 

“I’ve got this. Go on,” he said, patting my head. “Come on now.” 

I felt a tingle. Not long ago, Conrad had patted my head too, but it felt entirely 

different with Brandon. 

I couldn’t describe this feeling. But it was a combination of warmth, sweetness, and a touch of sourness. I felt like something I had longed for, suddenly fulfilled. 

Unable to face Brandon’s gaze, I quickly went to buy what he needed. When I returned, I saw Brandon mopping up the water in the hallway. Inside, the once- flooded floor was scrubbed clean and shining. 

While I was out buying supplies, he hadn’t been idle. 

At that moment, seeing the house clean as if it had never been flooded, I suddenly felt a lump in my throat. 

“I checked downstairs. There’s leakage, so you don’t need to 

no worry about 

compensating anyone,” Brandon said. 

This man was not only capable but also thorough. My throat tightened, leaving me speechless. 

Brandon–started fixing the pipes while I stood there watching. His hands moved skillfully, like when he adjusted the lights. 

Leaning against the door, I asked, “Brandon, is there anything you can’t do?” 

“Yes,” he answered without pausing his work. 

“What?”

He glanced back at me. “Giving birth.” 

His words instantly lightened my somber mood, making me laugh. I quipped,” You won’t be able to, as long as you make someone do it for you.” 

“Of course, that shouldn’t be a problem,” he replied. 

But I found myself at a loss for words, my face reddening. How did our conversation become so improper? 

To ease the awkwardness, I added, “Brandon, whoever marries you in the future will be very happy.” 

“Then why don’t you agree to marry me?” He always caught me off guard with his questions. 

I lowered my gaze, and after a while, I replied, “I’m too complicated. Like you said, I have an ex–fiancé and ambiguous relationships. You’ve never been in love. You’re too innocent. I’m not good enough for you.” 

Brandon didn’t say anything. I watched him silently for a moment before turning to the balcony to tend to the small potted flowers I had bought. 

Not long after, I heard Brandon going downstairs. Looking down from the balcony, I saw him lying on the ground again, turning on the valve. 

Was it fixed? 

I went to the kitchen are turned on the faucet. 

Clear water flowed and the newly replaced faucet worked smoothly.

My heart quivered slightly. I tried to retreat from his embrace, but he showed no intention of moving away. 

“Brandon…” I raised my hand to push him, but my palm met taut muscles.
