She had never had improper thoughts about Aaron, nor had she encouraged him to reconnect with his relatives. Now, she was being unfairly blamed for something she didn’t even do. 

She was truly innocent. 

After she spoke, she noticed Briana’s gaze had changed, staring at her in a way that made her skin crawl. “Mom…” Lena started. 

“You still say you don’t know?” Briana interrupted her. 

Lena felt utterly powerless. She realized that the best course of action was to leave as quickly as possible. If they kept talking, she might end up digging herself into a deeper hole.

Her immediate priority now was to find Ron and ask him to pretend to be her boyfriend. 

Lena quickly escaped. The moment she drove away from Aaron’s place, she exhaled in relief, stepping on the gas and heading toward her home.
