Chapter 956 

“Cough, cough…” Lena started coughing uncontrollably as Ron casually spoke. 

Even a real son–in–law wouldn’t start calling his girlfriend’s mother “Mom” right away, let alone someone pretending to be one. 

Lena stared at him blankly, and Ron winked at her with a gesture that seemed to say “Don’t worry.” He then turned to speak to Briana on the phone. “Mom, I’ve been with Lena for a few months now. She’s been too shy to introduce me to you because she was afraid you wouldn’t approve of me… Yes, yes, we’re basically an 

underground couple.” 

Lena rolled her eyes in disbelief. What kind of nonsense was this? 

She tried to grab his phone, not wanting to hear any more of his fabrication, but Ron dodged and continued speaking to Briana. “Mom, I’m really her boyfriend, not fake… Otherwise, why would she be here with me so late at night, right?” 

Ron certainly had a way with words, and Lena realized that asking him to pretend to be her boyfriend might be the best decision she’d made in her life. 

“Alright, I’ll let her speak to you,” Ron said, finishing his part and handing the phone back to Lena. 

Lena took the phone, and called out obediently, “Mom.” 

“Lena, so you do remember I’m your mother! Why are you hiding your relationship from me, like you’re part of some secret society?” Briana was clearly unhappy. 

“Tomorrow, bring him home. I want to meet him,” Briana ordered, ending with, ‘ You’ve made me worry for nothing.” 

Lena knew exactly what her mother was worried about–her relationship with Aaron. 

The call ended, and Lena felt like she had just narrowly escaped a disaster. 

Ron looked at her. “So, how was the performance? Did you like it?” 

Lena gave him a thumbs–up, but after her mother’s scare, she didn’t feel like eating the rest of the sweet rice dumplings. 

“Hurry up and eat. Don’t waste my effort,” Ron urged. 

Lena took one and put it in her mouth, but it tasted bland. 

Seeing her expression, Ron returned to his room, leaving her alone to deal with her

thoughts. 

But she wasn’t able to process everything yet. Just as she was trying to collect her thoughts, Aaron’s call came through. She immediately muted it, letting the call drop. Moments later, a text message from him popped up: [Lil‘ Lena, answer the phone.] 

Lena wasn’t about to answer. 

Another message from him arrived: [Should I come upstairs and knock?] 

Upon seeing this, her body tensed up. She quickly ran to the window and looked down. There it was, Aaron’s black Cayenne parked below, with him standing in front of the car, holding his phone, looking up at her. 

Through the window, they locked eyes–he was down below, and she was up above. After a moment, Lena called him. “Uncle, you’re making my boyfriend misunderstand.”
