"Dad, are you okay?" I asked when I noticed he wasn't speaking to me. I knew why he had wanted me to come to the golf course with him, he wanted to talk to me about the incident with Heather.

"Yes, I am a son. Just thinking about some things. When we arrive at the golf course we can talk."

Dropping the issue, I continued driving. I didn't want him to know that James had told me what happened although he did it vaguely. Reaching the golf course, I found a spot and parked. Turning off the ignition I got out and opened the trunk to take out the golf clubs and balls. Lifting out the bag and the basket we walked towards the course.

Going to the tee-box I took up' the muscle-back iron' while my dad took out the cavity-back iron. Taking up one of the golf balls that my dad scattered on the ground I took a swing and the ball found the hole. Taking up another ball I put it down and was about to swing when I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. Dropping the golf club, I took my phone out and saw that Emily had texted me.

Opening it I saw that she texted me saying that she couldn't make it today because something had come up and she was sorry.

Putting my phone back in my pocket I walked away from my dad and went to sit on the chair that was nearby ignoring my dad who was asking what was wrong. Walking up toward me he also took a seat before asking, "what's the matter son? Why are you so upset?"

"I have met someone's dad, her name is Emily and we were supposed to hang out today but she blew me off."

"I'm sorry to hear that, son. I am really surprised this is the first time I ever saw you get so upset over a girl and also heard you speak of one. Do you like her?"

"I think I do, I am not sure as yet for we had just met yesterday."

"Well based on your reaction that you gave off when she blew you off I would say that you do like her."

"I don't think so, dad, maybe it's because I just saw her and wanted her, maybe it's the lust making me feel this way. Leaving me so confused."

"Son I have been down this road before so I am going to give you some advice on what I have learned. You need to drop the lifestyle that you're living or else, this 'I can do whatever I want, get whoever I want because I am young and free' It's not worth it. You need to change or else you're going to hurt this girl if things get more serious. Just last night you had someone in your bed, and now you are talking about someone else that you may seem to be developing feelings for.

Sighing, I knew he was right. I knew what he was telling me was the truth but somehow, I fail to acknowledge it. I didn't want to succumb to just one person. I have never fallen in love with any woman other than your mother and she is now gone from me. I have this fear that when I do fall in love with someone they too will be taken from me.

"Promise me, son, that you would at least consider what I have said."
