Vicky slowly closed her eyes. A few seconds later, she said, "I understand."
After the doctor left, Vicky took out her phone and intended to call Tyler. It was then she realized she did not have his contact number.
She stared at her phone in bewilderment for a few seconds, then dialed Jennifer's number. "Vicky?"
It was late, and Jennifer's voice sounded a bit drowsy.
"Jennifer, I'd…like to ask for your help."
Jennifer could sense Vicky was troubled by her tone and quickly asked, "Vicky, is something wrong?"
"Yeah. Harvey got into an accident, and he's in the emergency room right now." Vicky's voice sounded strained. "The doctor just came in and said the blood bank doesn't have enough blood, and they can't get blood from other hospitals either. I want you to ask Anthony if there's any way around this."
Without hesitation, Jennifer agreed, "Vicky, don't worry, I'll ask him right away."
Vicky did not even have the strength to thank her.
About five minutes later, Jennifer called back. "Vicky, Anthony said that all the blood that matched Harvey's blood type was taken away before the accident..."
Jennifer did not know the specifics, but when it came to a matter of life and death, she knew better than to ask too many questions and softly conveyed all the facts she knew. "Anthony found out who took the blood... It was Tyler."
Even though she suspected it all along, hearing his name still sent a chill down Vicky's spine.
"Jennifer, could you please send me Tyler's phone number?"
"Sure."
"Tyler Hart, you know exactly why I'm calling, so drop the act."
"Oh? And why are you calling?"
"Harvey needs a blood transfusion, and you were the one who removed all the stock of his blood type away from the blood bank, didn't you?" she gritted out.
"I don't really get what you are saying, Ms. Shaw."
'Seems like he is determined to act dumb until the very end,' she thought. 'That's right. He's not the desperate one here.'
"I will break up with him once he wakes up," she gritted out.
