It had been three weeks and I hadn't seen nor heard anything from Antonio.
I tired calling his phone countless times but it would always go straight to his voicemail. It was like he was completely ignoring me.
I had strong feelings for him and I never felt this way before for anyone. I knew if I had him in my life, everything would be perfect between us and when the baby finally arrives, we'll be completed.
Melissa had him wrapped around her evil little fingers and she wouldn't let him go even though he's not in love with her.
I knew he had feelings for me too but he wouldn't show it. He'd rather stand by his wife and please her while I was pushed over to the side like a piece of meat.
Frustrated, I got off the bed. I needed a glass of water in the kitchen but when I got to the stairs, I felt a sharp muscle spasm pain and the next thing I knew, I was tumbling over.
I hit my head hard on the footing and my entire body ached as I tried picking myself up. I couldn't move my legs but luckily my phone was in back pocket of my pants and my hands weren't broken.
I dialed Antonio's number but just like all the previous days, my call went to voicemail. My heart became heavy as I remembered the lie I had told him about falling down the stairs. It had actually happen now.
Without Antonio to assist, I dialed the emergency number. After explaining to the dispatcher, I passed out.
I woke up to pure brightness and I thought I had died and went to heaven but when my eyes adjusted, I noticed I was in a hospital room with an IV stuck in my hand and a monitor beeping above my head.
The first thing that came to my mind was the baby inside of me and his or hers situation. If anything was to come to the baby, I'd lose all connections with Antonio and he'll want nothing to do with me.
After a minute, the door was pushed open and a friendly looking doctor came in. He was handsome and usually, I'd do a doctor like him but Antonio was the only guy I actually wanted.
"Hi. I'm Doctor Julien. How are you feeling?"
"I'm fine."
"Do you have anyone to list in case of emergencies?"
I nodded my head yes.
Antonio's POV
"Antonio, you're doing it all wrong and why did you picked that color to paint the skies. Have you even seen a red sky?"
"It's not red. It's orange because the sun is setting on the horizon."
"You made it look like the sky is on its period Antonio. You didn't wipe your hands after using the red paint so it was mixed with the orange."
Melissa and I were finger-painting. We used to always do this when she moved in with me but we lost touch of doing fun things together and since I wanted to better my marriage with her, I made her breakfast in bed this morning then carried her into the art studio in the house.
"Okay fine. Can you fix it?" I sucked at painting but it was one of Melissa's favorite thing to do.
"I'll fix it once I'm done with the birds and the trees."
My phone vibrated in my pocket and I instantly thought it was Anna calling so I ignored it and continued painting.
The phone vibrated again and caught Melissa's attention.
"You're not going to answer that?" She asked.
"It might be her."
"What if it's your father or your mother?"
I retrieved my phone and saw an unrecognized number flashing on the screen.
"Antonio Kissle." I answered.
"Antonio Kissle, this is Doctor Julien from Miami Medical." A male's voice said from the other end.
"Is there a problem?" I asked with concern taking over and my eyebrows creased together. I slowly stood up with Melissa's eyes locked on me instead of the painting.
"Paramedics found her unconscious at the foot of the staircase. She had fallen over."
My blood came to a boil. Anna once lied to me about falling over the stairs and now she purposely threw herself over the stairs because I was avoiding her.
"Is the baby okay?" The baby was my only concern.
"Yes."
Anna's eyes opened and a smile spread across her face.
"You came." She mouthed.
The doctor left the room.
"I can't believe you Anna. You actually did this to spite me?"
"What are you talking about?"
"Why did you threw yourself down?"
"I didn't. I had a muscle pain in my leg and the next thing I knew was I was falling over and then woke up in this damn room."
"You're such an irresponsible person Anna!"
"Stop yelling at me! This isn't my fault."
"It never is. When are you going to take responsibility for anything?"
Her eyes teared up. "Maybe if you had been there with me, that wouldn't of happened!"
