Chapter 1457
Just like that, John’s usual gentlemanly charms returned to him.
He looked at Sherry and smiled gently. “Come over here, I promise that I’ll be nice.”
Sherry frowned and remained in place.
She was very skeptical of his claims.
John looked at her without a word, then he took two steps backward.
Sherry eased a little at last, she prepared to get out of bed.
John rested his hands by his side and eyed her pretty face and figure hungrily.
This was not a good place for them to talk, he thought, he should take her somewhere nicer.
Ding!
That was when the phone went off. It was tucked inside a large coat hung on a rack next to the bed.
It was Sherry’s coat.
She quickly pried the coat away and grabbed the phone as she darted a cautious and guarded look at John in the middle of all this.
It was Carl calling, sounding slightly upset on the phone. “Hey, Sherry. Didn’t you just head up there to get something? What’s taking so long?”
Sherry quickly answered, “Oh, my room is on the eighth floor, it’s room 8008. It’s kind of far from the elevator, give me a second. I’m almost done and will be downstairs soon.”
John seemed alarmed by this.
Sherry hung up after that and tucked the phone in her pocket, then she put the coat back on.
She only stepped off the bed after ensuring she was well- covered and protected.
John stood still.
Sherry turned on the lights and ignored his presence entirely. She quickly grabbed her clothes and suitcases from the closet and prepared to leave.
John immediately latched on to her wrist the moment she passed in front of him.
She tried to shrug his hand away to no avail, then she glared pointedly at him. “Get your stinking hands off me!”
John looked at her with his face full of gloom. “Was it Carl who called you just now?”
Sherry made a look. “Yeah.”
“Have you been staying with him these past few days?”
His voice was cross.
Sherry could not understand what he was so upset about, nor could she fathom why he was so insistent on forcing his kisses on her tonight when he supposedly hated her with every atom of his being.
John had just warned her to not get close to Carl. He would probably lose his mind if he saw Carl coming up to get her.
The elevator door shut promptly and took them downstairs.
Sherry silently heaved a sigh of relief.
Standing next to her, Carl silently scrutinized her appearance.
He noted her messy hair and the wrinkles on her dress that were previously smooth and spotless when she was still in the car with him. Something flashed in his eyes but he held his tongue.
They prepared to leave the hotel after Sherry put her luggage into his car.
Carl helped hold the door to the passenger seat for her like a gentleman, then he walked around the front of the car and stepped into the driver’s seat. He palmed the steering wheel with both hands and stepped on the gas pedal.
The red supercar revved its engines and shot out of the hotel into the traffic.
Meanwhile, on the eighth floor of the hotel.
A tall figure of a man stood by the window and gazed at the red dot slowly disappearing into the cityscape, a faint scowl forming on his lips.
A fleck of skin was torn off his lower lip, blood trickled from it.
The blood stained his lips red, a sharp contrast to his pale complexion.
Dark and menacing, he looked every bit like a vampire.
