He's got no interest in you, so a cast-off like you daring to make a scene here is downright hilarious!

"Mr. Bennett's got himself a pianist mistress on the side. Who do you think you are? Even if you dropped dead right here, he wouldn't give a damn!"

She turned to Bryan, "Go on, honey, give her what she deserves, for Lydia!"

Bryan's anger flared even hotter. He was almost buying into Selena's taunts. He glared at Selena with pure malice.

Selena was shocked at their blatant disregard for the law, and even more so that Claire would stand by and let it happen. The disappointment cut deep. They had lived under the same roof for years, after all...

Without a second thought, Selena bolted for the door.

Thankfully, she had planned ahead. On her way over, she had told Joy to call the police if she wasn't back in half an hour. Now, she just needed to stall until help arrived.
