Nearby, Kaylee rushed over to help her husband, tears streaming down her face. She shot an angry glare at Everett, "Who do you think you are, barging in here and attacking my husband? This is a family matter, and I'm calling the cops on you!"

Everett, unfazed, dropped his gaze lazily. He eyed Kaylee, who was making a scene, before turning his attention to Claire.

Kaylee spun around to challenge Claire, "Claire, your brother's been beaten up, and you're just standing there doing nothing!"

"H-he's... he's Mr. Bennett, Selena's husband..." Claire stammered, her voice barely a whisper, tinged with fear and guilt.

Everyone was stunned. Wasn't Selena supposed to be out of favor? Why would Mr. Bennett show up and protect her so fiercely?
