Chapter 248 novel Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Selena stood by the window, wrapped in her long robe, watching as the black Rolls-Royce Cullinan rolled away from the villa, eventually disappearing down the road. She gently bit her lower lip, lost in thought.

A moment later, she swapped her clothes for something more low-key—a simple tracksuit, complete with a baseball cap and mask—and slipped quietly out the door. She had an important errand: a trip to the hospital for final confirmation.

Selena had chosen a hospital on the outskirts of town, hoping to avoid running into anyone she knew. After a two-hour journey, she finally arrived. The hospital, perhaps due to its out-of-the-way location, was relatively quiet, especially in the OB-GYN department. After checking in, it wasn’t long before her number was called.

"Number 7, Selena," the announcement echoed.

Even though she shouldn't have recognized anyone there, she still felt a little anxious, like she was doing something she shouldn’t. She quickly slipped into the consultation room.

After she explained her situation, the doctor didn’t waste any time and gave her a slip for a blood test. After paying, she headed upstairs to get the test done.

With half an hour to wait for the results, Selena returned to the waiting area, surrounded by expectant mothers, most accompanied by loved ones—a husband, a mom, or a mother-in-law. They were all buzzing with excitement, discussing who their baby might resemble or what their personality might be like, each conversation full of hopeful dreams and sweet anticipation.

Listening to them, Selena felt her heart swell with emotion.

When her results were ready, Selena retrieved them from a self-service kiosk and headed back to the clinic. The doctor, seasoned with years of experience, glanced over the results and said, “The baby’s a little over a month along. Do you want to keep it?”

“If you decide to keep the baby, we’ll set up a prenatal care plan. If not, it’s better to schedule an abortion procedure soon while it’s still early. This will reduce health risks.”

Even though she knew the doctor’s questions were routine, the thought of ending the pregnancy tugged painfully at her heart. This was her child, her own flesh and blood. She had already lost her parents—how could she bear to part with her child too?
