Selena's heart was pounding like crazy, and her dark eyes narrowed in surprise. What was he getting at? Did he already know she was pregnant?

"I..." Selena's mind raced, trying to figure out how to explain herself. But then, out of the blue, he said, "You're obviously not feeling well. Why act like everything's fine in front of me, only to sneak off to the hospital later?"

The words that almost slipped out were swallowed back just in time. Listening to Everett, it seemed like he hadn't figured out her pregnancy yet. Was he just annoyed because she'd been unwell and kept it from him?

Selena wasn't sure. She softly asked, "Everett, how'd you find out I went to the hospital?"

Did this sneaky devil have someone tailing her? Everett gave her a cold look and replied, "I called home at noon. Ava said you weren't there, and you didn't pick up your phone. I was worried something happened, so I asked Derick to find out where you were."

Selena let out a relieved breath. Luckily, he just knew she went to the hospital and didn't find out which department she visited. As for not answering the phone, she had been waiting for test results, her thoughts all wrapped up in the baby. Her phone was tucked away in her bag, and she hadn't heard it ring.

"Why didn't you say something if you were feeling off?" Everett asked, clearly not pleased.

Selena felt a bit guilty and blinked a few times. She needed a good excuse to brush this off. Otherwise, with how persistent Everett could be, he might soon discover her pregnancy. Her dark eyes darted about as she forced a gentle smile, "I just had a little stomach bug, nothing big. I could handle it myself and didn’t want to worry you, so I just went to the hospital to grab some meds."
