“Did you say Shawna’s pig farmer boyfriend is the secret boss of your company? How could that be?”

Stephanie really thought that she was mistaken. She could not believe that this was true.

Dustin had been mocked the second he walked into the ballroom. How could he be the boss of a huge company?

She had wanted to shame Shawna and Dustin and calling Desmond over was supposed to insult them and highlight how awesome Stephanie was in comparison to Dustin.

“Stephanie, did you say something mean to him?” Desmond’s face darkened. He was terrified that she had offended Dustin.

“She didn’t say anything. She was just mocking me for being poor,” Dustin said indifferently.

When he thought of that, Desmond’s expression turned vicious. He suddenly slapped Stephanie across the face.

The smack was so loud that it would have shocked everyone present if not for how noisy it was inside the ballroom.

Stephanie touched her cheek and held back her tears. She stared at Desmond in disbelief.

“I’m… I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were Desmond’s boss…” Stephanie said while sobbing softly.

She regretted everything.

Stephanie had wanted to find satisfaction by insulting Shawna and by mocking Dustin. She never expected that things would turn out this way.

“Shawna, I’m sorry. I was wrong to say all that. Could you please put in a good word with Dustin and ask him to forgive me?” she said to Shawna.

Stephanie did not have the guts to offend an important person like Dustin. She was a nobody in comparison to him. It would be too easy for Dustin to seek revenge against her.

“It’s alright. You may leave,” Dustin said levelly.

“Thank you, Boss. We’re leaving now.” Desmond nodded and bowed.

Then, he pulled Stephanie away. He did not care about the stupid reunion anymore.
