"Lance, wake up," Andrea said from behind the couch, her hand shaking him awake.
She had awoken really early and decided after some time of zoning out that she can not sleep anymore so she decided to go to Lance's room but to her surprise, he wasn't there, and thoughts of him going home in the middle of the night, while it was raining cats and dogs! She freaked out for a while but when she heard the light snoring that she recognized, she sighed in relief and walked to the kitchen to prepare their breakfast. But then, she realizes it was a Saturday, and as she gazed up to her wall clock it read, 7:36. And Lance always works on Saturdays and he also goes to work a quarter to eight.
So, without even as remembering to put the bread to the toaster, she put it in a plate, took out the weird tasting instant coffee and put the kettle under the sink faucet, she walked-ran to Lance's sleeping state.
"What time is it?" he mumbled, clearly not awake yet.
"8:45," she answered and nearly broke the plate she was holding as Lance suddenly sat up and mutter a swear.
"Here," she offered him the plate with untoasted bread in it and he took it and headed for the bathroom.
She walked back to her kitchen and removed the kettle under the faucet and started to boil the water, the thought of brewing coffee for the morning ruined because of Lance's work schedule.
"Coffee's not ready yet," she said, as Lance breezed past her, muttering profanities over and over.
"Oh no, Andrea, that wouldn't be necessary. As you can see, I'm late," he said, stopping his endless muttering and facing her, giving her a thin smile.
Andrea rolled her eyes and smiled back, "You do realize, you are your own boss," I pointed out.
He laughed as if realizing that what Andrea said was the truth, "Oh yeah," he said and slumped down the stool, eating the untoasted bread she gave him earlier.
The kettle squealed and Andrea proceeded on making coffee, using the instant coffee she found delicious, and gave a cup to Lance who was wearing a smirk and a raised brow, "Instant coffee?" he asked, amused.
"Well, it will take longer to brew so you better settle for that," she said, sticking her tongue out and proceeding to make her own breakfast of eggs and bacons.
"I hate working early," he groaned as he drank his coffee.
"Tell that to your employees and they'll rejoice!" Andrea said, with her back facing Lance.
