Andrea woke up as the streaming light of the sun entered her room's window. She closed her eyes again, and groaned, why did I forget to draw the curtains last night?
She rolled to her side and smacked into something hard. I don't have a hard pillow. She slowly fluttered her eyes open and saw skin that does not belong to her.
"Good morning, gorgeous," Lance's voice pierced through the silence of the room making Andrea look up at his smiling face.
Her eyes widened at the sight of Lance, did we? Oh my god!
Andrea felt Lance's eyes on her, and she shyly looked back at him, not remembering anything the night before, "Did we?" she asked.
"Huh?" asked Lance, as he snuggled his face closer to Andrea's and kissed her forehead.
"Did we, you know?" she asked as she pointed at Lance's bare chest.
Lance threw his head back and guffawed, making Andrea blushed at his reaction, she buried her head against his chest and closed her eyes.
"Andrea, hey," he shook a little, but Andrea did not budge at her position.
"Hey, we didn't," he said, amusement still clear in his voice.
She looked up, nearly knocking into Lance's chin, "Really?" she asked.
"Yeah, check your clothes," he said, and she did, only to find herself still clad in her work clothes.
Work! she thought and hopped to her feet in haste, running towards the bathroom.
"Hey, Andrea, what are you doing?" Lance's voice sounded from her room.
"Showering," she said.
"Why?"
"For work, it's Tuesday," she answered.
"Oh, shoot!"
I guess he forgot.
"Andrea,"
Andrea turned from her desk and noticed Holden by his office door. He gestured for her to come in and she did. She sat down on the chair in front of Holden's desk after he did and waited patiently for Holden to speak.
"Andrea, since your papers are being processed and your promotion is under way, there is no reason for you to stay for the rest of the day so by lunch you can take your well deserve rest until next week," he announced, not even beating around the bush.
Her eyes widened in surprise, "What? Really?" she asked.
What a luck we've got here, Andrea!
He gave her a mock inquisitive expression, "Why don't you want to take some time off?"
Andrea shook her heads, "Of course, I want it. Four days in your company seemed like four dog years for me," she answered.
Holden laughed and Andrea smiled. At least he's a cool boss.
"Okay, so I guess this is all I needed from you today and for the rest of the week," he stood up.
Andrea stood up, too, and felt her phone vibrate on her skirt pocket.
"Your skirt's vibrating," he informed.
"I know," she said as she fished out her phone.
Lance's calling.
"I got to get this," she excused herself.
Holden nodded and Andrea got out.
"Hello, gorgeous," Andrea's heart quickened its pace as she heard the voice of Lance.
"Hey," she said.
"Wanna grab lunch with me?" he asked in his typical self.
Gosh! How can he do that? She thought.
"Are you asking me out on a date?" she asked. Flirting was never a problem with her. Dang! She's an expert flirt, but instead of her words coming out as coquettish, it came out as if she was being strangled.
Lance laughed and she can't help but imagine him doing that in front of her, "Maybe, but if I'm going to take you out on a date, I want it to be special and perfect," he answered.
Andrea smiled, "Then, I guess I could say a safe yes to that," There, you don't sound like a strangled cat.
"Great. I'm going to be there, later," he said.
"Okay, I'll wait for you. I've got some pretty amazing news with me," she said, deciding she'll share her promotion over lunch.
