"Mom?" Andrea said through the phone.

It's rather rare for her mother to call and base on how things are for the past days, she knew right at the sight of her mother's name flashing on her phone's screen, that what she has to say is important.

"I need you to come home, dear. You need to know everything," Pamela's melodic voice said.

"But mom, I'm on a function." Andrea said.

She looked around, it has been a week since she had last seen her parents and though, she wanted to resolve everything once and for all, her work schedule just can't make time for it.

"I need to tell you tonight, or I will never be able to," her mother insisted.

She pursed her lips, her eyes connecting with Holden, from the other side of the room. She forced a smile; she had bothered him with her personal problems and she felt bad for abusing his offer of friendship.

"Andrea, will you come?" asked Pamela.

Andrea sighed, "Yes, mom. I'll see you later,"

She hung up and immediately crossed the room full of people talking about money.

"Is there anything I could do for you, Andrea?" Holden smiled at her.

"Yes," she answered, looking him straight in the eyes.

Holden chuckled, "Okay, shoot,"

Andrea inhaled, "I know this is sudden, but I really need to go talk to my mother tonight," she said, discerning Holden's sudden change of expression.

He raised his brow, "About your relationship with Lance?" Holden asked, his tone unfamiliar.

She nodded, never losing eye contact.

"But we have plans tonight," Holden said.

Andrea's eyes widened. Oh right, she thought, biting her lower lip.

"Can I take a raincheck?" she asked, rather embarrassed.

Holden pursed his lips, "Sure," he said, after a long moment of silence.

Andrea smiled, "Thank you," she said.

Andrea left the function an hour later and directly drove to her parent's home.

"Pamela, what's so wrong about our relationship it's not as if we're committing mortal sin here," Lance protested as Pamela walked into the room.

He had tried contacting Pamela for the last few days to talk about her issues with his newfound relationship with Andrea, but every time she ignored him.

"Lance, what are you doing here?" she asked.

"Proving to you that I love Andrea and that I'll do everything for her," he answered.

Pamela looked at him scrutinizing, "Lance, I'll never agree with your relationship with my daughter, that I assure you will never change," she said calmly as she lopped herself down the couch.

"What happened to you, Pamela. I thought you will never get in the way when it comes to Andrea's happiness, what are you doing now?" he asked, trying to catch Pamela's eyes but she kept her gaze elsewhere.

"I'm not getting in the way of her happiness, because your relationship with her is nothing near happiness," she said.

Lance furrowed, "Haven't you seen the two of us when we're together? Isn't that enough proof that she will be happy with me?" he asked.

Pamela looked at him with disdain, "No, that is not enough proof," she answered with venom in her tone.

"Tell me why, Pamela?" Lance asked.

"Because you are not in love with her, and no matter how in love she is with you, you'll only bring her sorrow, because her love will never be reciprocated," Pamela raised her voice, standing up from her cool sitting position.

Lance looked at her in bewilderment, "I love Andrea, Pamela! I am in love with her," he countered.

Pamela shook her head, "No, Lance. You're not in love with her," she answered with amusement in her voice, "You are in love with me," she said.

Lance's eyes widened, "You knew?" he asked, surprised.

Holden pulled away from her and looked her in the eye thumbing away the tears streaming from both her cheeks and smiled at her, "It will, I promise," he said and leaned towards Andrea.

What's happening? she thought but before she could process anything, Holden's lips are already against her.

"Holden," she said as she fought off.

"Andrea, I will make it go away, I promise," Holden said as he kissed her neck.

She tried squirming away but can't, "Holden, please, stop, please," she begged, crying harder.

Holden stopped and looked her in the eye, "Why? Do you still love him even though he loves your mother?" he asked, his grip tight around her upper arm.

"Moving on is not just an hour process, Holden," she said, moving away but Holden's got her on a vice grip.

"Holden, I need to go," she said.

"What am I to you, Andrea?" he asked, his tone serious.

She looked at Holden's eyes and saw something that made her feel scared, "Holden, you're my friend," she said.

"I can't just be a friend? Andrea, I see how you look at me,' he sad.

Andrea furrowed, “Holden, what are you talking about?" she asked.

Holden held her closer, "You look at me as if you want me, tell me that's true Andrea," he said.

Andrea shook her head, "Holden, you’re scaring me," she said, feeling her trembling intensify.

Holden smiled, "No, I'm not. I'm stirring up your libido," Holden said, as he leaned in again, but Andrea turned away.

"No, Holden, I am very much sure I am scared," she said.

"Is that so?" Holden asked, his grip loosening, Andrea took that opportunity.

She plucked herself off the couch and run to the door, but something hit the back of her head hard, making her fall to the ground and faint.
