Chapter 1374 He Was Not The True Sacrificer
The delivery person contacted Charlotte and informed her that the package was left at the company's receptionist. Charlotte swiftly dismissed the matter and made her way to the receptionist's desk to retrieve the package before heading to Timothy's house.

Asel had wanted Timothy to play with her, but Timothy had not gone to the office in the morning and had planned to go in the afternoon.

Ever since Loraine's incident, Timothy had grown less trusting of the housekeepers and had decided to retain only a driver, a nanny, and a cook.

The house emanated a cold and desolate atmosphere.

Upon hearing the doorbell, Timothy scooped up Asel and approached the door, unveiling Charlotte standing outside with items in her hands. Asel had seen her before, so she recognized her immediately.

As Asel spotted the enormous Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear in Charlotte's hands, she danced with joy, exclaiming, “Bear, bear!”

“I bought this especially for you. Do you like it?” Charlotte handed the items to Timothy, her intention being to embrace Asel and hold her.

Initially, Timothy hesitated and asked suspiciously, “Are you capable of carrying her?”

“Hey, I have nieces too, you know? I've even changed their diapers!” Charlotte rolled her eyes at Timothy and enveloped Asel in her arms.

The child emitted a faint scent of milk, which was quite pleasant. Charlotte couldn't resist giving her a couple of kisses.

Carrying Asel, Charlotte entered the house and immediately noticed a figure in the living room. The person was draped in a beige knitted shawl, resting her cheek on her hand as she gazed at the scenery beyond the floor-to-ceiling window.

“Johanna,” Charlotte greeted her, but she appeared unresponsive.

With a pitiful expression, Asel spoke up, “Mom doesn't talk to me either. She doesn't hug or kiss me. Only Dad hugs me.”

Being young, she couldn't grasp the situation fully. Whenever she looked for her Mom to cuddle her, her Mom remained indifferent. And when her impatience grew, she would cry out in grievance. Yet, it was always the nanny and her Dad who consoled her.

Asel began to believe that her mother no longer liked her, so she ceased asking for hugs.

Timothy instructed the housekeeper to prepare coffee and bring it over. As he made his way toward the living room, his gaze swept over the absent-minded Johanna, and a sense of unease settled in his heart.

Timothy informed Charlotte, “She's not feeling well.”

Since the death of Jiminy, Charlotte had been engulfed in a prolonged period of depression. Only recently had she managed to regain her composure and immerse herself in her work, unaware of the events that had unfolded between Timothy and Johanna.

After the incident with the Benson family, it seemed as though he had provided significant assistance to Charlotte, but he had merely taken credit for it. The true efforts were not his own.

He arranged for Kenneth and Jessica to work at Forlisle Group, and the projects they discussed were not deliberately arranged by him. It was Jerry who had the connections and was assisting them. Jerry understood that Kenneth and Jessica urgently needed to complete the project in order to establish themselves in the upper ranks of Forlisle Group.

Timothy asked Charlotte, “Did you hear about Mr. Gaudette's death?”

“I'm aware,” Charlotte replied.

It was Timothy who had informed her about the reasons behind Benson Corporation's bankruptcy and the mastermind behind it. Without Timothy's insights, Charlotte would never have been able to uncover the truth using her own capabilities.

Charlotte stated, “If any revelations come up during the investigation, put all the blame on me.”

She knew that Benedict had an influential background, and his death would be thoroughly examined by those in higher positions. She was uncertain if Timothy could handle this matter effectively.

When Timothy posed that question, he already anticipated that Charlotte would suspect his involvement.

Recalling Jerry's instructions, Timothy couldn't disclose the entire truth to Charlotte. He asked her, “If you were asked to marry Jerry, would you be willing?”
