"Y-your wife!" his colleague stammered, confused by Sebastian’s intense reaction. The cigarette fell from his lips in shock.

Sebastian’s forehead throbbed with anger, veins bulging as he clenched his fists.

"Which wife?"

His colleague blinked, completely bewildered. "Who else? Your wife, Isabella Carter!"

Sebastian’s face twisted in rage as he shoved his colleague hard in the chest, hitting him with a clenched fist.

"Watch your mouth!" he growled. "Isabella and I are just separated. We haven’t seen each other in three years, but we’re still married. What anniversary? Don’t curse her like that!"

"Hold on!" his colleague, still baffled, shook his head in disbelief. "Weren’t you the one who declared her brain dead?"

His head spun, and a sharp pain shot through his skull. His thoughts became a blur of confusion and denial.

"When... When did I change my mind? Three years ago… wasn’t it just supposed to be a brain cell transplant?"

Sebastian’s voice was hoarse and unsteady. "I was the one who declared Isabella brain dead. But the surgery was successful, and after it was done, wasn’t she supposed to go home? How could she be dead?"
